I am making anise cookies and somehow I have seriously messed up the recipe. I think the problem was that I didn't beat the eggs enough in the beginning, but anyways the recipe told you to chill the dough and I put it in the fridge for about an hour and a half (this could also be a source of the problem). I took the dough out and it is supposed to be doughy and able to be rolled out and formed into shapes with a cookie cutter. However, the dough was gooey, EXTREMELY sticky, and would not hold any type of shape. Is there any way this recipe can be saved?! :(

Anyone have a good one of a dish that at least generated from Mexico or Spain?
I don't need to make it unless I want extra credit, but I'd rather not have a super-long one.
Thanks in advance :D

The only reason I ask is that I received a 5 qt. pot as a gift, but I doubt I will ever cook anything to fill it completely as there are just two in my family, and we're not too keen on leftovers. However, I found a slow cooker recipe book "for two" that is geared for 3 qt. pots or smaller. Would I be able to use the recipes geared for the smaller pots in my larger 5 qt. pot without the food drying-out, or burning? Would I simply have to cut the cooking time in half, or.....?

My burgers always taste the same. Just a very boring, faint beef taste. Even with good meat, salt and pepper doesn't seem to do the trick...

I like the flavorful taste of a good fast food burger.
I don't think BBQ sauce, soy sauce, etc would do it.

Heard something about onion soup base - that sounds a lot more promising. Onion stuff is pretty flavorful.

Any suggestions?

I made a fish pie today (well, tried)

Screwed up all the ingrediants weights etc.

Not any old fish pie, but one where I had to juice and grate Lemons, finely cut garlic cloves, skin haddock etc etc....

I'm mad as hell at myself.

Any advise (I'll settle for better luck next time)

Arrgggg ....

Wife has gone out for fish n chips for two whilst I clean up :-((

Every time I make lasagna, I go pasta, cheese, sauce, repeat.

But on the box of pasta, the picture looks SO pretty...

pasta, cheese, pasta, meat sauce, pasta, cheese, pasta, meat, sauce, pasta, sauce.

It looks so much prettier, but will it bake well? Do you need the sauce and cheese touching, or does the layer of pasta in the middle suffice?

Thanks in advance.

I have a metal enamel pasta pot and want to use it to deep fry a turkey breast, outside of course.
It's big enough but will it take the 350 degree F oil or will it destroy the pot

I am a sophmore in Highschool, and i would very much like to be a chef! I have been thinking about becoming one more and more everyday. I have spoken with family members, and they have advised me to get an education in liberal arts before pursuing a career in cooking.
What would be the best possible way for me to prepare myself for becoming a chef? Is taking a liberal arts course a good idea?
