before cooking? [[ I generally use 'Riceland Extra Long Grain Enriched Rice' ]]

My mother taught me to rinse it, before throwing it in the cooking pan to fry.

Is it advisable to do so?

I am going to a potluck and I have been assigned a vegetable sidedish--needs to feed 10-12. Cannot be potatoes as someone else is bringing those. I was thinking summer vegetables as I have fresh tomatoes, zucchini, and green peppers coming in from my garden. Thanks for your help!

I still have half of a avocado left & would lkie to use the rest for dinner later; I don't have any lime or lemon juice to keep it from turning brown...Can I still use it once it turns brown as long as I use it the same day? I have it kept in the fridge in a zip lock bag right now.

Okay, I don't get it. I've been baking moist, delicious brownies since the beginning of time, it seems! That's baking 101! 9 months ago, I moved from my home to my fiance's home. He has an electric stove and oven. I hate electric stoves, I've almost always had gas ranges. Anyway, I haven't been able to make a decent batch of brownies since I moved here! It's got to be the oven! Nothing else is different, just an electric oven instead of gas. I've tried leaving them in nearly to the point of starting to burn, but they are still too gooey in the middle, I mean needing-a-spoon-gooey! What can I do to make them turn out right? Serious answers only, please!

SR flour, sugar, cocoa, etc. Cook base then cool - spread with jam - then spread with mock cream and then chocolate icing.

Really after the base - can work out the mock cream.

I made delicious tasting Ice Cream, but no matter how long I let the machine run, I couldn't get it to harden up. Finally, I just put it into small containers and stuck it in my deep freeze. Shouldn't it freeze in the ice cream freezer though?
