I still have half of a avocado left & would lkie to use the rest for dinner later; I don't have any lime or lemon juice to keep it from turning brown...Can I still use it once it turns brown as long as I use it the same day? I have it kept in the fridge in a zip lock bag right now.

You should have left the seed with the one you are keeping for dinner. My boyfriend's mother told me that the seed will keep the avocado from turning brown. Believe me she is a great mexican lady cook! The BEST!!!

you can eat it later, I think keeping it in the zip lock bag should do the trick.. Its the air that turns it brown. It sounds fine, I have stored avocado plenty of times in bags and have even eaten it the next day.

You can eat it all. The brown only looks bad, it tastes the same and won't harm you.

The seed thing does work, too. I've seen it in the bowl of guacamole to keep it nice and green before.

Do you have anything else that's acidic? Like vinegar or orange juice? Those will work too.

And I want some of your salad. :)
