I get 2 slices of bread, put mayo on the insides, cheese in between(lots of it!), and butter on the outsides of both breads. Cook on hotplate until nice and crispy and brown. Comes out nice and toasty. So yummy! Having one as we speak!!:D

I have not had time to really plan a christmas dinner this year as my daughter has been in the hospital this week. I have a ham and a turkey, but I am trying to decide what to make with them.

It seems that when you double a recipe, you should not put in as much liquids. I am going to be doubling my greenbean casserole recipe for Christmas, and I don't want to flood it and mess it up! :)

Thanks!

here but there is a guy down town that sells shrimp for approx $1.00 lb but the problem is that it is still in its shell. Not like you buy in the store that is already to cook. And it is way cheaper but I have no idea how to 'do it' How do you de shell them? Or de vein them? Or whatever it is you do to shrimp?

I have never cooked a turkey without an oven bag, they always turn out really juicy with them. I was thinking of trying it without on this year. What do you prefer?

Many years ago I visited a Czech family and the mother made a meal of "Wheat Steak" as they called it. She made some dough, then she boiled it in a covered pot, when it floated it was ready. She took it out and using a specific tool designed for this (I asked), she scooped it from the water and sliced it (the tool looks like a large wire-egg-slicer with plier-like handles for scooping and squeezing to cut). Then we each got slices, which were like spongy bread, and a gravy sauce was put on top. It was really good. Similar to what we call Wheat Gluten I guess, but I've never had wheat gluten like that (yes I have other wheat gluten recipes, but I want this specific one). They ate this regularly; perhaps once a month or more.

If you don't have a recipe, do you at least know the Czech name of the product/food?

I feel like such an amateur, i don't do a lot of cooking, and most everything comes out of a package, and I can just follow the directions. If it's precooked, and I can do it on the barbecue(too cold for that today) or in a pot of water, does that mean i can put them in the oven too? How long? will they dry out or something? God I need to start learning to cook more things.

Ok, I have a couple of bottles of sherry (the spirits of Christmas past) that have been sitting around in my liquor cabinet for a couple of years. I am not a big sherry drinker and, while quite a bit higher grade than the cooking variety, it is not exactly top shelf.

I can't bring myself to just pour the stuff out. Any good ideas for what to do with it?
