Well, I'm completely inexperienced with weddings. I've only been to one my entire life and that was when I was 6 yrs old.

My close friend (he's the groom) is having his wedding in a month, and he asked me to play guitar at his wedding reception.

I'm really excited, but I'm nervous at the same time b/c I don't know what to do as far as gifts and what to do at the reception. I'm just a poor college student, and I don't know what I should get and how much I should spend on a gift. They don't have a list or anything that you can just choose from. I was thinking maybe a $50 or $100 gift card to IKEA or some furniture store would be good enough. Do you think this is a good idea? I could just save up what I earn at work for a week and get him this.

okay....my boyfriend is black...and hes supposed to be purposing soon. very excited! however he said he wont purpose until i tell my dad about us. i dont ever see him, but its usually at least 3 times a year...but this year i only seen him once or twice and that was only at walmart but cousidence.
bc he left us when i was 3, and maybe three years ago, i was debating on whether or not i should move in with him and his wife. but we were discussing inter racial dating. and how he doesnt like it, and if i live there, i wouldnt be able to date any black guys. he says hes not racist and that he has black friends...but its kinda iffy to me. and i asked him why doesnt he like it cause i believe it doesnt matter what anybody looks like, it only matters whats in the inside. and before i tell you what his answer is to this question...my dad is lunatic...and i mean literal lunatic.....so he says he doesnt want me to be in a interacial relationship is because he doesnt want me to have .....cont..

My fiance and I planned on a very, very simple Las Vegas wedding in March. It was just going to be the 2 of us.
We told a couple friends that we would be getting married, if they want to join us for some fun in Vegas, great. If they'd rather not spend the cash, that's fine too.
Now, it's out of hand. We have a list of folks who say they'd love an excuse to go to Vegas.
Does this mean, I'm stuck with a huge wedding /reception bill that we weren't planning on ?
What should I do at this point? I really feel bad about not having a huge reception, but that's not what we want.
We only want to get married, have a great time in Vegas, and come home.

I have a group of four friends. We are close and see each other all the time. One is getting married late next year. She has asked though only two of us to be bridesmaids, leaving me out. I feel upset and snubbed but am also understanding that it is her wedding and her choice. However, I still feel upset at the thought of the three of them all being in the wedding and on the day me being seperate. I don't know why I have been excluded and I don't think I should ask because I don't want to carry on but it still hurts a lot - I thought we were really close. What should I do? I feel like at the moment I don't want to see any of them because I feel too embarrassed at being excluded.

im suppose to be a bridesmaid in an up coming wedding, actually a junior bridesmaid, i really don't see a difference...but whatever. The junior bridesmaid dressed are different then the regular bridesmaid dresses. but because i'm...lets call it...bigger in the chest, i can't wear the dress for juniors and that, is putting a lot of stress on everyone. because i'm not a fat girl, the dress would fit me great if i wasn't so top heavy. so what advice can you give me? or help in some way? please.

thanks.

I have a sister, two half-brothers and a step-brother... I am going to have my other siblings involved, do I have to include my step-brother?

We grew up together but we haven't really talked since we were about 14 years old. We are the same age and our parents treated us completely different so we had somewhat of a falling out in high school.

We're trying to keep the size of our wedding party down and unfortunately my fiance's brother might be the one that gets left out. Well, is it okay to do that? Is it okay to give him another role such as have him do a reading?

Hi all,
I am a graduate student studying relationships and I started a survey a few months ago looking at friendship behaviors and support within relationships. If you have not yet participated in this study, it is a fairly quick survey (generally taking people about 15-20 minutes to complete) and gives you a lot of feedback about your relationship and your personality at the end. Many people have enjoyed taking it. If you are at least 18 years old and are interested in taking the survey, the link is: http://www.courses.rochester.edu/surveys/funk/friendshipT0/

This project will eventually become part of my dissertation, so if you have the time please take the survey, and if you feel like passing the link along to anyone you can think of, that would be wonderful I would really appreciate your help with my research. Thank you and have a wonderful day!

Hi, I'm getting married 4-12-08 and the bridesmaids are wearing lilac dresses. I'm having trouble figuring out what color bouquets to have. I want purple, but I want them to be colorful and springy too. The problem is I don't want any pink or yellow in them. Does anyone have any suggestions or pictures to help me out? Thank you!

I'm planning not to have a band or dj and to use an ipod for the music at my wedding reception. There is no sound system in place at the venue. It is a 80' x 40' building where I expect the acoustics are not that great. What kind of sound system do I need to use? And where would I be able to get that and how much should I expect to pay to rent it?
Also, if anyone else has done this, what did you do for things like announcing the wedding party and toasts and such? Did you have a microphone to do that? And who did you have make announcements when things were happening like the first dance and cake cutting and that sort of thing?

How many of you have or are planning to wear a bridesmaid dress instead of a "regular" wedding gown? Were you able to have a train added or did that not matter for you? Were you happy or unhappy with your decision?
I've not decided on a dress, but found a great looking bridesmaid dress that I think I would wear.

I am getting married in May of 08 and I am in need of more songs to use. I need one for when the mothers enter and walk down. So far I have for the brides maids by Jessie Powell "You" and my song is by Johnny Gill.

Any suggestions?

I am getting married in June and one of my close friends (who I am considering asking to be in my bridal party) is allergic to many flowers. She does not like to take allergy medication. Because I was hoping to have an English wildflower theme for the wedding, I do not want to use fake flowers.

I am having an afternoon wedding with the ceremony indoors and the reception outside.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do? Here are my ideas:

1. Ask my friend to be guestbook girl instead of bridesmaid
2. Have all the bridesmaids carry something besides flowers -- suggestions welcome!
3. Have each bridesmaid carry a different bouquet of a single type of wildflower -- try to find one for my friend that she is not allergic to
4. Your great idea goes here:_________________

Thanks so much for your input!

We have various people helping us with our wedding, like with music, reading, ushering, etc. It's in December, and I was thinking about giving them a little "goody basket" with bought and baked treats and candies. Is this too dull or insufficient for their help? What do you think? Any other ideas if you don't like this one? We're trying to be budget-conscientious but not cheap.

My fiance' is in the Air Force, and just found out he was being stationed in Italy. We had planned on getting married in two years, but instead we decided to go ahead and just get it done. We are applying for a wedding certificate, I would like a judge to do the ceremony, but I was wondering if that was at all necessary and if we are legally married with or without a ceremony!
