Actually I attending a New Years Eve Wedding last year. The couple had actually gotten married in the islands, and had their reception NYE. It was really nice, and gave alot of people something to do for New Years instead of the same old. Just make sure you have an open bar!

It would be fun! But probably if the bride and groom were family or friends of mine or my boyfriend. If I was invited because I was friends of the parents and didn't really know the bride and groom, then I would have to think aboutr it. About the open bar, definitely have champagne at midnight. And make sure thereception goes until 1am. Alot of hotels have banquet rooms so you could have the wedding reception at a hotel reserve some rooms for guests. Not pay for them but put them on hold. Or if your reception is at a catering hall, you could have a bus to transport people to the hotel. So you don't have to worry about guests drinking and driving on new years eve. congratulations!

New Years is probably the one exception to the "don't plan your wedding for a holiday weekend" rule. I think that's because everyone is going to party that night anyway, so why not party at someone's wedding, especially if it doesn't cost you anything. The only concern I might have is trying not to plan it too late in the evening. If there are children at the wedding, they might be really tired by midnight, causing their parents to miss part of the party as well. But if it's an adults only thing, sure, go ahead. Time the first kiss for midnight!

i would rather not, but thats me personally. I think new years is a very personal holiday, and one should chose how they spend it. And i know accepting a wedding invitation is truely volentary. But 9 times outta 10 if i made someones invite list, they are a pretty good friend/family memeber and i wouldnt want to miss that occasion.

Perhaps because im so young (acting) that i wanna go party or see what my options are. I dont know, i saw someone on a wedding show do this, and it went over well (the wedding planner wasnt happy though). I dunno.

(My Fiance says "Why not?", so i dont think he cares either way)

I posted that question as part of an in class assignment, to see how people respond to someone who APPEARS to have less education and living below the means of what is "acceptable" to American society. Not surprising, the majority of responses from women were the most cutthroat and without compassion. This has become a common trait in our society - women bashing women. As for you -- along with class comes respect. You have no respect for others' lifestyles that may differ from your own, therefore you have no class, get it? You should consider these factors, before deciding you are on a higher horse than someone else. But enjoy your Chardonnay, however pompous you want to continue to appear to be. Good day. LOL.

I certainly would. I love going to new years eve parties, and what better way to celebrate the new year than with a couple celebrating the beginning of their lives together! Just make sure you have plenty of champagne, and maybe do something fun at midnight like have a balloon drop, or perhaps you can get big screen tv's so everyone can watch the ball drop in NYC.

It depends on how close I was to the person and whether or not I had a traditional thing that I always did on New Years...

Something just to keep in mind about a New Years wedding is your guests driving home with a HUGE amount of drunk drivers... someone people may not even come because of that.

heck yeah that would be a totally awesome way to spend your new years. and you really dont have to shell out any cash either if it is fully catered. yeah totally go no matter who it is. and go even if you dont know the couple what better way to ring in the new year than to crash a wedding and get free food and beverages for free.
