We reside in one county, and will there after we wed, but we're having the wedding in the next county over. In what county do we need to apply for the marriage license?

Residents in Michigan need to apply for their marriage license in the county in which one of them lives. Non-residents need to apply for their marriage license in the county where they plan on getting married. Only one of you need to be present when applying for a marriage license. But, you will need to show a photocopy of the front and back of your partner's driver's license if they are not there.

Hi. I live in Michigan too! Apply for the marriage license in the County that you LIVE. It doesn't matter where you get married. Hope this helps!

I would think that the other county would require that you apply there. Call your local government for a phone number and give them a call.

Double check with your registar's office to be safe......but usually they want the license for the county you are getting married in.
