the second people hear the word 'engaged' the next question will be, have you set a date? Even if you've only been engaged a few minutes or a day! You don't owe anyone an explanation, just say there's a lot of planning to be done and we want everything to be perfect, so we're going to take our time. Either that, our lie - give 'em a date 3 or 4 years away - give people something to plan for! :-)

Just tell people that you are engaged but no date has been set yet because you want to get ideas, and budgets set up first. No need for people to know about your credit problems.

that is how me and my boyfriend are. we are waiting to pay off my car and be finicially stable and whatnot before we get married. however we are not engaged yet, but we've been seriously thinking about the future. like its going to take X months to pay off my car. so maybe a month after that, we'll be ready to go. or X months to pay off this, and then have xtra money for the payments of the car, then maybe we can have it sooner.
so its okay if u dont have a set date. the important thing is, make sure yall are finicially stable so yall wont get in debt like alot of newlyweds i know are.

My husband and I were engaged for about a year or so before we actually got married and my sister was engaged for 6 years before she got married and also my cousin was engaged 3 days before she got married so its actually just up to you. If people ask you questions just tell them its none of their business or you're and him are talking about setting a date.

I just got engaged last week, and trust me that will be the FIRST question EVERYONE asks you, but when you set the date is completely up to you and your fiance... just keep in mind if you think it will be in the coming months... you will need some time to select and book venues.

Just a few weeks. You need to set a date asap because some things need to be booked a year in advance, depending upon where you live, such as the church/minister, venue, caterer, band, etc.

just say "WE haven't set a date yet!" there is no right or wrong time when a date is "expected". People are nosy, and will always ask SOMETHING. Just wait, as soon as u say i DO, u guys will be asked when the babies are arriving.
Hey, if need be, also say, "WE aren't in a hurry".

Everyone asks as soon as you announce it, but don't feel pressured, just say to people we haven't decided yet. You can out it off as long as you want to, set the date when you are ready.
