I was engaged a few years back and even bought the dress before he dumped me. Now I can't stand the sight of it and need to get rid of it asap! Help!

so the thing is that my parents bought the dress, because they were going to pay for the wedding. I feel so bad that they spent money only to have him dump me!
It was $700, but really I'll take almost anything.

Brides against Breastcancer. Whatever the value of the dress you can use as a charitable tax deduction at the end of the year.
You aren't going to have stellar results trying to sell it right now. Wedding season is over so very few brides are shopping, plus the calendar year is about to flip so your dress will be "outdated" even if you bought it last month. On the other end every bride across America has listed their wedding dresses from the spring/summer rush to be sold so you are one in a sea of many.
How much did you list it for and what did you pay for it? Most times when brides can't sell their dress it's because they are wanting too much money. Whether you wore it or not it's still considered "used".......at peak season you could expect about $350 for a $700 dress. Right now about $200.

You could try any local consignment stores, as well as Ebay.
The thinkg about Craigslist and Ebay is that you need to have a really good photo and a good catch phrase. Some people are superstitious about wedding dresses bought and then the wedding was cancelled. So do not mention this in your advertisement.
There are also some online consignment stores like this site:

If all else fails you can donate your dress to Your Fairy Godmother, which is a wedding dress charity organization that helps brides find a dress even when they can't afford it.

Good luck!

Ebay or a consignment shop will put a little money in your pocket. Or, there's an organization called Threads of Love that take donated wedding gowns and make small dresses or gowns for deceased premature babies for their burial. I know it sounds a bit touchy, but it's a wonderful organization that is doing a great service. I work in a neonatal unit and they have provided their services to these grieving parents and don't charge a dime. Here is their website if you'd like to check them out:

craigslist, I LOVE... but not so much for a wedding dress. I'd put it in the newspaper, make a website, or post pics online somehow, and add the address of the pics in the ad. I've heard re-sell shops are crap. Ebay you'll probably not get what you deserve on it.

Instead of posting it online, why don't you take it to a consignment center for wedding dresses.

go to angelosbridals.com. He will place your gown on consignment and I guess he takes a commission. Be realistic and if the gown was altered, it is difficult to sell. You should give very specific measurements and most of all take a good photo and it will sell. Try ebay.com, bidz.com, ebid.com. Also try Craigslist.com again, but make your ad more specific and show a photo and have measurements of gown.

I believe there is also a classified on http://theknot.com I would suggest posting it on there with a picture... along with any other classifieds that are on a Wedding website. Also... there are local boards on TheKnot... I would post something on there.
Good Luck
If you can't sell it you may considering giving it to someone that can't afford one... it could mean the world to someone. Besides... its not doing any good just laying around.

Sell it! You can use ebay, craigslist.org, a yahoo group, or a newspaper classified. Also check with your girlfriends and local second-hand or consignment shops. Maybe there's interest there also.
Good luck...I know you don't want to keep that dress!!

Find a cosignment shop in your area and have them sell it, that way it is out of your way where you can't see it and hopefully, someone will buy it and you both can profit from it.

www.bellancora.com and www.usedweddingdresses.com
(both list new and used on consignment. I bought my dress from the latter).
