Been planning the honeymoon but lately my bride to be and her mother have been taking over the plans and changing them. They reject any of my suggestions and have so far doubled the cost of the trip (from $5000 to $10,000
). I am the one paying for this but they always respond the wedding is all about the bride so it should be her choice. Do you think this is right or should i make them pay for it if i can't make any decisions in relation.

Ok...my cousin...she isn't really my cousin. But they call me their cousin. Well she is getting married and I HATE the guy she is marrying! He is an asshole to me and I wanna slap him in the face whenever I see him. And I told my mom that I am not going. And she told me I have to. But I don't want to go because I don't feel like I should have to since they really aren't family but my whole family is invited because they think my family is their family...and its confusing but I don't want to go. And my bro won't have to go. And my mom said if we go as a family I need to go. And I said just tell them I am sick or something. Because I really could care less...should I have to go?

Just a few questions...

I'll be attending a bridal shower the weekend after next, however tomorrow is the only chance I've got to shop. I often try to be unique with my gifts, though after doing a little search on Bridal shower gifts, I'm getting the impression that's not necessarily the way to go.
For her bridal shower, I planned to give her a customized piece: A picture of her and hubby set in crystal ... along with a $50 or $60 gift certificate to either the Body Shop or a lingerie place. What do you think?

For the wedding, I was thinking of just giving her a $50 - $100 gift certificate to the store where most of her registry items are from.

Gift certificates for these types of things don't come off impersonnal, do they? I mean...what if more than one person gets the same item off the registry, then what? For the wedding gift, would it be better to just put cash instead of the Gift certificate?

Sorry about all the questions.... :)... thanks!

My son is getting married soon and neither he nor his wife- to -be has asked my daughter, his sister, to be in their wedding. My daughter is so hurt by this I am afaid its going to come between the two women. I think its sad because his finacee is not reaching out to try and be part of our family. Truely I am having a difficult time figuring her out. Its like she doesn't want to be close to us.
This not my idea of a great way to start out with someone's family. Or are we just reading too much into this.?

We can use it to buy what we want and people don't have to worry about picking the right gift. Seems win-win to me but I am curious to find what conventional thought on this is.

I've seen some great suggestions for ways to save money when planning a wedding.
- Have the wedding around noon with a lunch reception. This is less expensive for both venue rental and food, and if it's a lunch reception, there's no need to have a bar.
- For a small-ish wedding, an iPod and sound system can provide music.
- You can make really nice decorations and invitations yourself.
- Go for a smaller cake and not a "sculpture"

As long as the venue is nice and everything looks good, can we do all these money-saving things without seeming 'cheap'?

We're footing the bill ourselves, and although we're comfortable financially, we just don't see the point in spending a huge amount of money on 1 day.

My friend is marrying my sister in law & they will be married in Lake Tahoe in August, 2008. He doesn't want to rent tuxedos....but doesn't want to make his groomsmen purchase a separate suit when they already have to pay to fly to Lake Tahoe. Are there any places that rent suits, or formal clothing other than tuxedos ? Any ideas ?? We are in the Chicago area.

I am getting married October 20,07. A few years ago, i was diagnosed with Panic Disorder and am taking medication for it which my Doc. suggests to increase dosage a month prior to the Wedding. She also suggested to maybe take a sleeping pill the night before so i get a good nights sleep so it's one less thing to worry about and not to get panicky about. I'm worried about this. I have never taken sleeping pills before. I was just wondering if any of you have opinions or have taken them to get some sleep the day before and what were your results. You see, i'm afraid that being so excited, i still won't be able to sleep during the night, then i'll be tired in the morning. Any info. would be great.

I am the maid of honor in a friend's wedding. Ok, the bridal party is helping me throw a bridal shower she would never believe. But she keeps asking what r we having and i won't tell her cause i feel it ain't her business to know. all she needs to do is concentrate on her wedding and wait on the time to come and sit back and have fun but she got mad and said she would plan her own bridal shower. So am i wrong for keeping that a secret cause the fun part of it is her not knowing?

My fiancee and I are having a terrible time balancing my parent's ideas for the wedding with our own. We believe that since we are paying for most of it (they are buying my dress. that's it) we should have final say on where the reception is held, etc.

My father thinks that the reception hall that we've chosen is too expensive and too far away (from the church and my parent's home). Although it is more expensive than the option he prefers, we are saving and will be able to pay for it without going into debt. The hall is approximately a 30 minute drive from the church.

There have been extensive arguments about this. Last time we spoke to them, it ended with my dad yelling and kicking us out of the house. I haven't spoken to him (although I speak to my mom regularaly) for almost a month and we're going to their home this week to discuss things. Any advice???

(Sorry this is so long...I wanted to be specific.)

If you are standing at the back of a church, facing the front, which side does the bride's family usually sit on? And also...when walking down the aisle, is the brides father on her left hand side or her right? Thanks!

It can be country, pop, whatever. List as many songs as you can think of.

I am having a wedding in early 2008 and I was wondering about your opinions on a Wild, Wild West theme are. I want to have each person on a horse that looks exactly like this:

And I want all of the wedding guest and me and the preist and my new husband to all be traveling on the horses at 30 miles per hour. I also want this to be my wedding dress:
