Gifts aren't necessary in that situation. If you wanted to give her something small, or maybe a card, that would be fine. Chances are, though, after 25 years the couple already has everything they need and they won't be having a large expensive reception.

I'm sure that after twenty-five years of marriage (and cooking) your friend will appreciate a gift certificate to a nice restaurant. And better yet, give them a gift card to a movie or show also. A night out on the town!

Unless otherwise specified on the wedding invite it is more than appropriate to give a gift or even a gift card.

It is definitely appropriate to give a gift. If you feel you can't afford a gift I would at least give a card.

It is appropriate but not necessary.

If you choose to, it is usually along the lines of a housewarming gift.
Or if you want something like dinner & a movie.

Up to you if you would like to why not. My cousin has been married 25yrs in september and I was their flowergirl so am looking for something to get them cos I was in the wedding.
