I don't want t seem cheap but I'm on a tight budget and I'm afraid others will think that I don't care...I know I shouldn't care but I don't want to give a bad impression

The bride and groom assumed it was the present but people in the wedding party have suggested it wasn't enough and asked what else I was getting them...The frame idea is a good idea but someone else already stole that idea....I was thinking personalized stationery with her married name but I was afraid that was some sort of bad karma to give it to her before the wedding....Thoughts?

I'm a graphic designer and know how much time it takes to design and print invitations. Your a good friend:) Why don't you buy her a photo album and you can insert the wedding invitation on the opening page. Almost like a scrapbook of keepsakes. I saved lots of things from my wedding (swatches, stirrers, wedding program, even sketches of my ideas) it's really sweet to have it all together. Kolo.com has wonderful albums.

Get her something small for her shower and tell her that for her wedding present you are giving her the invitations that designed and printed for her. That way she gets something special that you did for her on her special day. And it does not matter what other people think that is between you and her. The time and money that you spent on doing the invitations, is worth more than a gift, Or just buy a card and put a small amount of money in it and the invitations also.

Gifts are never required for a wedding. Since the bride and groom figured your invitation making was the gift, then I would ignore the other critics. If you WANT (and not out of guilt!) get them a gift, perhaps a frame for the invitation, for their day.

I hear you. I don't think it's necessary to buy another gift, but if you feel like you need to do something, why not frame the invitation you've designed and give it to them as something they can keep and hang. You could get a frame for so cheap.

Make them something neat out of their wedding pictures. There are canvases in the craft section of walmart. Pick one out, put a picture on it with one of their invitations, and put some ribbon or wedding scrapbook stickers around it. Check your local scrapbook store and they could give you some cute ideas for it also!

I understand about the money situation. You could get her alittle something for the shower. Why not frame the invitation. You could always find a cute inexpensive frame for the invitation and she would I am sure treasure something like that.

Let her know that the invitations are your gift to her, if she did not pay you already. I am sure it will be enough. You may wish to pick up something small for her shower if you think you need to.

Absolutely that is your gift, and a very nice one at that. Invitations are very expensive and you saved them a lot of money. For my wedding a friend paid for me to have my hair/make-up done. It was a great gift and I really appreciated it.

I think the stationary is a nice idea - thank you cards would be good too - maybe in a nice box or case.

I agree with framing the invitation... you can get a nice frame rather inexpensive:
