I am having a wedding in early 2008 and I was wondering about your opinions on a Wild, Wild West theme are. I want to have each person on a horse that looks exactly like this:

And I want all of the wedding guest and me and the preist and my new husband to all be traveling on the horses at 30 miles per hour. I also want this to be my wedding dress:

Sorry Ara57! I am making sure everyone brings disposable cameras! I am only inviting people that know how to ride horses because I don't want to be repsoncinble for any bodily injuries! I am hoping that my husband-to-be's mom can ride with my husband-to-be's dads ashes on her back! His mom is 96 and we are having his dads ashes strapped to her back like a backpack!

Hey! I was gonna buy that purse! However, I settled on one with just one brown and white pattern.

Well, you've certainly got the wild wild west all figured out. 30mph, too, huh? Bring a pillow for your rear.

Beautiful! I recently did a wedding where the bride and groom rode away from the reception on horses.

Your idea is not practical for the wedding ceremony unless all the attendants, the officiant, and all the guests are accomplished horse people. But what a cool idea for you and the groom to ride up to the ceremony on your horses, dismount, have the vows, and ride off into the sunset!

The dress and attire is really beautiful, and the wild west theme is a great one. There are many ways to incorporate the west theme without having the actual wedding atop horses, and you can still use your horses in some other capacity either before or after the ceremony. (I am assuming you do have your own horses, although you did mention having all the horses just alike. It would be hard to match a bunch of pie or paint horses to be "exactly" like the one in the picture.)

Good luck, and be sure to let us know how it goes! If you're in or near NC, and need a photographer, let me know! ;-)

There are a list of reasons why this is a bad idea. Everyone can't ride horses to start with. Some folks are afraid of horses. Why would you need to be traveling that fast at any point in the ceremony? And good lord why would you want to smell like a horse all day? Hopefully this was just a really bored question you tossed out to see if anyone would ask what's wrong with you but if you're serious reconsider.

I love the theme and I think the attire is gorgeous...I have done the horse thing and it went fabulously everytime...however it is in extrmeley bad taste to exclude people from your wedding because they can not ride horses and to expect his elderly mother to be abel to ride with his father's ashes on her back is not only rude but tacky...there is no reason she can not ride in a horse drawn carriage and carry his ashes. Obviously you are not thinking of your son either...I have a 5 year old that has rode horses since before he could walk and when he was 3 I would not have made him do this. If you want to race off after the ceremony and run and play with each other and your wedding party (given they are experienced riders) go for it!!!! Also be aware, if you do not ahve all of the horses needed to put this together, you will not be able to rent them. No one will rent their horses out to inexperienced riders to risk one of the horses gettin hurt and being held liable for one o your guests being hurt. how about taking a group to a horse ranch and setting up a range ride with the ceremony out in the middle of the range. That way you will have experienced handlers and experienced horses that won't spook as easily as most since they are used t strange people and inexperienced riders.

Sorry to say but no. It's one thing to have a western theme with your decor and food but you can't force your guests to dress up in costumes and jump onto horses, especially if they can't ride. If you want your guests "in character" the best you can do is say to dress casual in jeans and provide each one with a cowboy hat as their favor or something, but don't whine when nobody wears them.

I don't know how much experience you have with horses but they are not dogs and don't wait politely to be taken outside to go the bathroom. They are also dangerous if you don't know what you are doing and one of your guests is likely to get kicked and taken to the hospital

I can see injury and blurry photos. Maybe just stick to being led down the isle on a horse or the getaway after the ceremony. Wear the costumes if you like, but they are kinda hideous if you don't live and work on the land.

What a wild imagination! I am afraid you might fall from your horse because of the long gown that you 'll wear on your wedding. Take care.
