Weddings - June 2007

Hi
After nearly 8 years together and 2 years being engaged - a few months ago my boyfriend(as I now call him) told me he did nt want to get married. He said he did nt know the reason why? He has told me he is not having an affair. In fact he thinks that would be an easier answer. I have been absolutely devastated as we were just starting to get things sorted. We had the venue,date photographer and I had found my dress. (Fortunately not bought it)
We have gone thru so much. He says he still loves me and wants us to stay together althou there was a time when both of us could ve called it quits as I want to get married and he thought it would be unfair if he does nt change his mind.
We are currently trying to work thru it and touch base again. He has had a bad experience in the past and is scared of marriage.
He likes thing the way they are but I want more. He is my total soulmate and this is the first time he has ever hurt me.
Has anyone got any advice? Male opinions also good.

I am getting married in a few weeks and expecting 200 guests. I did not specifically ask for money as wedding gifts, but does anyone have an idea for how much money I can expect to get?? Based on previous experiences.

We're having our wedding in Oregon (where I grew and half my family still loves) on the coast. Most of our guest will be traveling from Ohio and may stay for at least the weekend, some for a whole week. We obviously will not be able to entertain them the entire week but will have get togethers and events the weekend of the wedding.

Instead of a tin of mints or some favor that will be thrown out anyways I'm having the hotel put gift baskets in all the rooms of our guests. I want to include things like bottels of water, sunscreen and a lst of locations to visit and things to do in the area (with directions and contact info). But I'm at a loss on other things to include as well as what to put everything in.

I am on a budget but I dont have too many guests and it will be one basket per couple/family). Any idead would be greatly appriciated.

Also any beach wedding ideas or experiances would be lovely.

Its ugly, ugly.and there r 2 other little girls(no relation)in the wedding wearing lovely dresses thier Mom chose for them..i want my daughter to look lovely (shes always beautiful, goes without saying) but the dress looks like a salvation army reject!! I have a very pretty dress i want her to wear instead..its just embarassing to have her wear the one my sil chose..am i totally off base?

my fiance and i are tattooed & pieced.. my grandmother only knows about my tattoos nothing else.. but she has seen my fiance smoke.. seen his tattoos.. and seen his piercings.. and its not that we're not tasteful with it.. everything that we have tattooed and pierced can easily be covered with clothing.. but he painted her house with his shirt off cause it was the dead of summer..

since then she has HATED him.. shes called him a liar.. made a point of telling everyone else in my family how hes a terrible person.. (everyone else LOVES him) and hes just using me.. and all of these horrible horrible things.. when me and him still lived with my parents she refused to come to the house.. refused to go to family functions that he would be at..

she did however show up to our engagement party.. said nothing to either of us.. and then an hour before it was over cornered me and made me cry..

im worried about her at the wedding.. any ideas on how to handle this.. shes being a child

I purchased a 3 stone engagement ring. The two outside smaller stones were diamonds and the middle larger stone was fake so I had it replaced with a pink sapphire. I have shown and spoken to a couple people and they said that I should leave it. They feel that like myself it is different. Others have said I should have it replaced with a real diamond.

Im getting married next year, i want to know what are good songs for bride & groom to have their first dance to???
Im also doing a bridal dance for my bridesmaids & groomsmen to dance to gether can you recomend some songs?

I am having trouble finding a bridal party song. At first I was going to use "All my Rowdy Friends" by Hank Willams Jr. But After a while I decided that I really didn't care for it. Currently I have Let's Get Married by Jagged Edge, but I started thinking about all the children in my bridal party and I think that it wouldn't be a good song for kids to dance to (rhythm wise) so any ideas? something unique? I wanted something upbeat but I think it would be better to do something slow for the little ones. Thanks in advance!!

My daughters shower will be this August. About 200 people invited to the wedding,almost all from out of town. We are not extremely close to our out of town family but all ,of course, will be invited to the wedding.

My question: People will be flying from California to New York, staying in a hotel and all that,if they attend the wedding.I can invite them all to the shower, too,knowing they won't come but after all that potential expense, I feel...funny asking them to a shower to which they cannot go and knowing they feel obligated to send a gift. I, frankly, don't know how many are actaully planning on coming to the wedding..hardly any, I think..So, do we invite them to the shower?

I always thought sterling silver wasn't as strong, and would tarnish unlike other types of "silver" jewelry, like platinum, or white gold. Would it be a better bet to go w/ one of those rather than sterling silver? Would it be worth the cost of platinum in the end?

So, my boyfriend and I are in love and want to get maried. As a female I hear a lot of other females saying how their boyfriend got them a promise ring, then the engagement ring and then the wedding ring. Is all this necessary? Does anyone ever look at ebay, craigslist, or the specialized wedding dress sites? Its Givenchy, in great shape, really dont see it getting handed down. Just taking up space at this point. Dont have a digital photo of it handy, more am looking for if I should even bother. Have checked with resale shops. and they say they basically sell them for half, and give you half of that.

So me and my husband-to-be are staring to think about who we want in our wedding party. The problem is I want some of my family members to be the groomsmen but he wants to pick them all out. What is the proper way of choosing these special people. I don't have a problem letting him pick some of the bridesmaids if he really wants to but I want my brother to be one of the groomsmen, that isn't wrong of me to want. Is it?

Can the sleeves be fixed in time? The wedding is in 2 weeks..
Should we just buy a new one and start over ????

He says it feels too tight but I think its just because he's not used to it? Or is it really bad? Can it be fixed in time ?? Or is it not fixable (the sleeves)

My wife and I recently have had a Eternity ring custom made. Unfortunately it was sized a 1/4" too big. We have talked to the makers and they suggested that we have them melt a spacer in the ring, but we would like to as much as possible avoid the melting route. Does anyone have any suggestions on what we can use to space the Eternity ring?

met this guy in July. I am married so I had an affair. My husbnad and I are getting divorced. But here is the problem. I played this guy for almost 1yr. But after a few mons of playing i really fell in love with him. Really hard.I promised him so many htings. He left his wife his kids nad his carrer for me. FOR ME. Now 1 yr later and we are still not together, We live in different sates ans I am not reedy to make that move at all. HE is I am not. I have to move where he is at. Because that is how he wants it.
HE thinks I am coming to live with him next week. But I can't yet. I have a son here With me and going thryu some court isues. I don't know wht to do . Should I just let this realtionship go?

I have to book rooms far in advance (10 months) due to a large event in the area on my wedding weekend. I have no idea how many of my 156 guests will come--probably 100 to 120. This would be a lot of rooms.

How does this process work? Do you have to have enough money on your credit card to pay for all the rooms? Yikes!
