If it is in the country and a destination wedding, what about little bottles of honey or a specialty of the area. You could get that and then tie little ribbons or decorate it yourself. You could even buy it in bulk and make your own container or bottle.

Dear one, Please remember, this is a wedding - not a child's birthday party. As such, wedding favors are supposed to be nothing more than a handful of mixed nuts, a couple of buttery cookies or other tidbit for guests to nibble on while you and your wedding party are getting ready for your grand entrance. People get way too carried away with CDs, bottle openers, picture frames, or other dust-catcher-trinkets as their wedding favors. These expensive little baubles tend to end up in the trash, junk drawers or car boot sales. Please stick with some edible tidbits instead of trinkets that end up in second-hand shoppes and boot-sales.

I had a friend who had a garden wedding...the centerpieces were small pots with flowers in them...1 big one in the center and enough surrounding so that each guest go to take one home as a favor. They had bought the pots before teh shower and during her shower they had a pot painting contest...so each pot was painted by hand :) Buy flowers wholesale and you'll be set

research recipies for the area you are going to. If you have family that live in that area ask them for recipies or call the resort that you are having you wedding at and see what recipies they are famous for. Print up a few of your favorites and make them into a little local cook book for your guests. You could attach a little sachet of local seasoning or flowers or herbs to it to give it a special touch. I would check on airport security about the seeds though, you would hate to have everyones bags pulled and searched beacuse of the seeds or seasonings.
congrats and good luck

How about a little flower pot with either real or fake flowers. You can design the pot and put your name and wedding date on it. Then you can use a nice ribbon and bow in your wedding colors.
Best Wishes with the wedding and the marriage.

For a garden-themed wedding, there are a couple things I can think of. You could either find some of those really small clay pots, and put some flower seeds in them...and then have your names/monogram written on the pot. You could then wrap the pot in tulle(same material as a veil), and wrap them w/ a ribbon in your wedding colors.
I also found these 2 on theknot.com. They both have a paper shape of some kind that is seeded, so your guests can plant them and think of you.
Here's a couple of links: http://weddingshop.theknot.com/weddingwarehouse/ProductPage.aspx?scId=Unique%20Favors(KnotShop)&pId=P1114(KnotShop)&cId=&cTypF=

I think anything else along that theme would work really well...and there are many more ideas on theknot.com too.

How about silk version of a flower that is native to the area where your wedding is, with a tag printed with your names and your wedding date?

this sounds kinda silly, but a friend put lil bottles of bubble blowing stuff on every table at the reception. we all blew bubbles on her while she danced with her husband, and then got a lil out of hand with the bubbles after the seriousness of the moment was past. no one got hurt & everyone had fun; sounds like even more fun for a garden wedding.
hope this helps, & enjoy your wedding! =]
