I am attending a wedding in a week... and am confused if this wedding is supposed to be formal or informal attire. The invitation says nothing about attire or if it's an adult only reception.
The wedding is on a Friday, but the cermony starts at 6pm.
The invitation is embossed, but the address is handwritten in print
The cermony and reception are in the same place.
I am wearing a dress, but I am worried about being underdressed or overdressed... do I wear a bright floral cotton spring dress? Or do I wear a black silk dress? I have never been to a wedding in which I have been so unclear on what to wear.

He is 100% behind me and my fiance getting married, but he isn't behind a wedding ceremony. Everytime I bring an idea up, he tells me why it impratical or to expensive. Its always about money. And I'm not asking him to help much with that. But it's bringing me down. He keeps telling me to just elope, but its not what i want at all. Any ideas on what I can do to get him on the band wagon? My mom couldn't be more excited and she knows my dad's commments hurt. Any help would be appreciated! Or just advice....

My sister will be getting married next month, and as a gift, I purchased a Unity candle set that includes 2 side tapers. Traditionally how should these be lit. I think my sister is under the impression that the pastor lights one taper, and the remaining taper is lit from the one the pastor lit, and the bride and groom lite the unity candle.

I know this is incorrect.

If I remember correctly from past weddings, the tapers are lit by the mothers of the bride and groom. If that is correct. where do the mothers get their flame from?

Hi All,

I was just looking for some advice on Bath and Body Products. I want to buy some Bath and Body works products for my bridal party. I am from Canada but I have close access to a bath and body works store. I have never shopped there before so I am not sure what is good and what is bad. If anyone can provide me with some of their favourite things from there perhaps it can help to give me a better idea of what to get. I have checked out there website and it looks like they have a lot of interesting things, but a better idea of actual real peoples tastes would be greatly appreciated.

My best friend is getting married in 4 weeks, and my boss won't give me a few days off to go to her wedding!! She lives in California and I live in Pennsylvania, and I was planning on flying down there (my plane tickets were bought and everything) and we'd already picked out my dress because I'm supposed to be her maid of honor. The wedding's too soon to change the date. Originally my boss DID say I could have a few days off, but now he's changed his mind and says that it wouldn't be good for the company for me to be gone for just a week!!! I've known my best friend since we were 6 and she really wants me to be there. What can I do?? HELP!!!!!!

If you had to choose between the following which would you choose (if you're a bride to be, which would you prefer)

Pay for babysitter and go to a friends wedding but just bring a crad and no gift
or
Buy a small gift but not go to the wedding?

Note: My husband is a groomsman and will go even if I stay home with the kids. The bride and groom paid for half the tux for my husband.

I am in charge of making a guestbook for my sister's wedding in June. I have never seen a homemade one, but I have heard they are really cute. Does anyone have pictures/websites that I could check out to get some ideas? OR, if you have tips to share with me on how to make it look great! THANKS!

Hi im getting married this year and we where planning on having a honey moon. We got the Hotel booked and everything, but just the other day I decided not to go on my honey moon, as we dont really have enought money to spend there its only too blackpool, even if we start saving now last time we went we spent £200 in just one day. We are asking for money instead of wedding gifts as we already live together we dont really need anything we are saving for a new depsoit for a new house. Anyways on our honey moon we were going to use some of the money we get to spend on our honey moon incase we dont have enough. Im always worring about things like money and stuff. But then I felt guitly about using the money we get for saving as its towards our furture, but I do want to get away for a few days as we have never really been away together for various reasons. We probably will have enough to go if we save from now on but I feel guilty about taking it out of the wedding money if we have too.

Hi my son has been asked to be a ring bearer at a wedding later this year. It is of family (inlaws) I barely know... he doesn't know them at all. He will have just turned 3. At this time he can be a "terrible two" not following directions; being strong willed etc. I don't see this changing anytime soon. How do I tell them no without getting them mad -- we will have a new 6 month old at that time... plus we will have to travel to the wedding. All expeses and time... for what... us exhaustion and most likely embarrasment. Isn't this too young to be in a wedding? It is supposed to be a special day for the bride and groom and I just see it getting ruined. Not because our son is a brat as I have read on other web sites but because he is a little boy... and what little boy needs to be stuck in a wedding? I don't find it an honor more of a hassle? Any ideas??

I'm the groom and I really want to help plan the wedding. I know traditionally it's the bride's day, but I want it to be an equal part because it's my day too, is it not? Also my parents will be paying over $20,000 for the wedding, not hers. What do you all think?

Hi, I'm trying to find some ways to fill up the back page of my wedding program. It's an 8 1/2 x 11 inch piece of paper folded in half. All I have on there so far is a 'thank you for joining us...' and 'please join us for a reception at...', so there's a lot of space yet to fill. Thanks!!

I want to use reception sticks as a wedding favor, but I haven't been able to come up with a cute yet simple way to wrap them up. I tried using ribbons, but I'm having trouble getting the bows even, and getting them to stay on the candy.

My son is dating a girl for 2 1/2 years. I met the mother, son & girlfriend included, once a year ago for dinner. Both Dad's were excluded from the meeting. We'll all get together (Dad's & Mom's) sometime in the future. My son & girlfriend will probably get married in a few years. Her older sister is getting married in June. My Husband and I were invited to the wedding (which we're not attending). We will send a wedding gift. Should we send an engagement gift if we weren't invited to the engagement?

Been with my girlfriend 6 months, and she has mentioned engagement, big smile on my face. We live about 400 miles apart n used to see each other every 2 weeks or so. Now if she pulls me into a shop and shows me what ring she wants, and tries it on, then is off with me for the next 3 days, what is she playing at. I love her so much and nothing would make me happier than spending my life with her, she has been hurt in the past many time, n now wants space, so haven't spoken since sunday, as to give her space, I dont want to lose her. What do I do?

I want to have a small wedding in the backyard any ideas how to have it at home. Or my other options was to have my cereomony and reception at the same place but there is no xtra room for the ceremony so it would just be in the middle of room in while the guest sat at their tables, I didn't know if that would be tacky or not.

I am considering eloping and going to Vegas but I am not sure if I will regret it or not. My family doesn't fly so I know that they would not be apart of this adventure. If you did get married at Vegas were you happy with the outcome and any suggestions where to go and what to do. What is the best month to go?

I almost got engaged so many times but at the final moment the gals wanted me to go for an IQ test more than even a blood test? Is this a new fashion? What is IQ and IQ test? The latest Barbie Doll tells me that it is a genius test since I am so super smart and she wants to make sure the babies pop out allright?
Sounds suspicious to me. I told Barbie is she going to get one too and she said "nope, since I think you are the only one that needs two!". Now folks, any idea what this sizzler is upto. My friends warned not to go since one of the dudes went to a hocus pocus chamber for the test, got hypnotised and has been behaving weird since. He does'nt whistle at gals no more, dont bang beer steins on the table or moon the traffic out of the rear window. I know I am genius category and the babies will pop out fine and hop into adulthood. So what is the expert opinion of all those engaged before, did ya all take an IQ test too before taking the vows and smooching in front of the priest?
