Okay, now, I got this crazy idea to do an 80's theme reception. where can I get things for it? What would I get for it?

The reason I thought of doing 80's theme, is bc I think I have decided that I want to us 80's rock love songs. I don't know there is just something about 80's love songs....I love it!!

Anyways, any ideas would be awesome!!

My brother is getting married next summer. The girl he's marrying and I have been pretty close so she's asked me to help plan the wedding and be the maid of honor. I need help on wedding traditions and I have a few things i think she needs to re-think. One of the tings is when she is walking down she wants the flower girls to throw fake petals and then at the reception she wants confetti. Normally that wouldn't be a problem but its an outside wedding and it would be really hard to clean up. The outfits she wants for the flower girls is something that would normally be cute.....if it were a casual wedding. I need some advice on all of this......if anyone feels like emailing me my adress is Jasmine4842@yahoo.com. Thanks for the help.

We're getting married this summer in jamaica and having a reception when we get back. We've lived together for a year and have a baby. We still need stuff though, should we put registry cards in the invitations to our reception?

We've been together for 7 yr.. since we were 19..and we are also engaged...just currently this past November. We fight all the time because of the way he talks to me. He can be very disrespectful as in he always uses profanity when we discuss our issues. Even when we are not fighting he is rude at times...like when I call him he'll answer the phone saying "What do you want?"..or what ? He claims that I am his best friend but in actuallity he treats me worse than his friends...at least his friends get the best of him..and I am usually his punching bag. I am not completely innocent either..but I've learned to control myself with the bitching and letting little things go. I've been doing this for awhile now..and it seems as though he's taking advantage of it now. I tried to split with him and he says no...and to give him another month..I don't know what to do. We have isssues with communication..he never wants to listen and thinks I shouldnt compare us w others.. but we are not normal.

My boyfriend has proposed after 3 months of dating. We met 10 yrs ago and had stayed in touch as friends, but didn't see each other romantically until recently. He and I share the same values, attitudes to family, career, children, money, religion and know where we want to be in 10 years time. I love him very much and know that this is the man I want to spend the rest of my life with. We are both independent professionals in our late 20s.

I get along very well with his parents, but my parents don't like him, as they think he is 'not good enough' - but without good reason as he is a good and reliable man who works hard, has a good job, is well educated and loves me very much.

We both have no doubts about each other, but my parents do - they don't like him (just different values) and have said it's all too quick anyway. Any one else think it's too fast? How can we deal with the parent issue?

I posted a similar question to this, but I did not get an actual answer to it. How much would it cost to get a wedding gown altered that has a train about 3 ft long and would need 3 inches taken off ALL the way around it (including the train)? The details would not be effected by the alteration.

I am getting married in 4 months, my fiance and I were thinking about providing some beer at the reception. I just found out a few minutes ago that my brother who has been in prison and is now at a half way house will be able to go to the wedding and reception. The thing is he is staying away from any drug, even alcohol( which I am totally for) He said that he will go to the ceremony but not the reception if their is alcohol there. He is not putting me on a guilt trip or giving me an ultimatum. He says he understands and supports whatever decision I make. He just needs to do what is best for him. I love my brother and want him there on our special day. I want to just make it an alcohol free event now but I also know that alot of people are going to want a little bit of alcohol there, including my fiances parents. We have already done a major change because of them. I know its my day and I should do what makes us happy, but either way I go I am going to upset someone.

Will you really know which dress is "THE" dress? If so, how? Also, how much are alterations for a dress that is too long? The dress I like has a train that is about three feet out from me. The detail allows it to be taken up the 3 inches all the way around that it would need to be. I just have no clue how much alterations would be on a wedding dress if it needs taken up ALL the way around. Also, I am having a nice wedding ceremony and reception in a hotel ballroom. Should I go with a clean, sleek look or a wow dress (detailed)? Any information would be greatly appreciated. (The dress I like is $260 at Cargo Largo, but I could get one from David's Bridal.)

I was looking for some advice.... well more like some other points of view. I am in a long distance relationship, I met my boyfriend back in October 2006 but in December he had to return to his country. I managed to see him for almost a month in January when I went down to visit his family but was forced to return home to finish school. We have kept in close contact by phone and internet... lately webcam and mic and I will be returning there in May after school. But the other day he told be has a surprise for me when i return and after much questioning i came to the concussion that he is going to ask me to marry him (it has to do with us, and my reaction will decide our future together). I love him dearly and we have talked about our lives together I just though that we would have more time. To me it doesnt matter if I marry him tomorrow or 5 years from now but many of my close friends and some family are freaking out that i would even consider saying yes. What would you do??

Hello. I've been with my current boyfriend for nearly 2 and half years. I am 19 but not in rush to get married what so ever. However, I did wonder at how long a woman would wait for her partner to propose to them in a relationship, before moving on/assessing where it is going?

2-3 years maybe?
4-5? (now he really should be thinking about it at least!)
..or more?

A friend of mine got married (justice of the peace) after she was planning this big wedding and it was becoming apparent that no one was willing to "participate" shall we say. Now she wants to have this big to do reception in a few months and sad to say, some folks are already chatting about they are just going for the free food / drinks. So tell me, (aside from the obvious that this union isn't one that the masses approve of) what's the best way (as tact isn't my specialty) to help her see that she is just spending money for folks looking for a free meal and drinks?

We have known each other for about 10 years, and we both promised that we would be in each other's weddings. He was in my wedding, but when it came to his it was a different story. I'm a larger size woman, and his financee was aware of this. She promised to accomendate all of the girls sizes with her dress choice, however she wasn't. All of her friends (they vary from larger sizes to very small) were taken in consideration (in my opinion) but I wasn't. It felt impossible for me to be in the wedding with her dress choice which I told her, and they didn't seem to care or mind. Now though we were very close at one time, I don't even want to go to the wedding because I feel very wronged. I'm very hurt.

What's your opinion of it? Should it be done? ...Not really to ask permission exactly but more of a heads-up for the parents, wanting of their blessing, and also out of respect?

If you were to do it, how would you go about it? ...wait for the parents to both be home one night and go over there to talk in person?? Where would you do it (over dinner, at the kitchen table in causual conversation, comfortable in the livingroom)?? What if there are other children at home that may be around to make things uncomfortable??

I am doing a friend's wedding and she wanted hand tied bouquets of asiatic lillies and white oriental lillies.

I have seen many wedding books and magazines and they're all hand tied and wrapped with ribbon only. (pls correct me if i am wrong.

I would like the comments/experience of florists and brides on hand-tied bouquets, and how long they last once out of water. This is so i can advise the bride if hand-tied is the way to go.. Thanks in advance.

PS. I am in Australia.

Just wondering how long people wait to get married.
Also, what do people think is the acceptable time to wait before getting married?
Also did any of you get married very quickly after meeting them?
Thankyou.

The restaurant will be dimly lit with lots of candles. Does it really matter if the linens are white? I know my dress is more ivory, but how much time am I really going to be sitting at the table? I wouldn't even question except to have ivory linens I have to pay an extra $200.
