My Fiance and I are both chefs and are finding it most appropriate to choose foods that represent our likes. We're looking to serve all types of international cuisine. ie: Won Ton Soup, Lasagna, Chocolate Fountain, A Simple Wedding Cake (fondant is disgustingly sweet) I recommend having chocolate moulding paste used instead, the colour is a little more yellow, but it tastes a lot better and is easier to work with. Won't crack and bubble as much as fondant will. Choose foods that suit you best as a couple, and consider the thoughts or feelings of those around you. If you're family loves to be outdoors and in the country, why not consider something a little less traditional like a bbq?

I have seen alot of generic chicken dishes, normally guests have an option between a chicken or a beef and then a possibility for a vegetarian dish (like a pasta or something). If you are having a caterer, simply ask for some sample menus and you will find something you like. A vendor should be able to help you with this, esp if they are a professional.

We had the following buffet style for ours:
Turkey
Ham
Mashed Potatos
Beans
Gravy
Ceaser Salad
Tossed Salad
Buns
Stuffing
Pickles

For dessert we had Cheesecake and Wedding Cake. Some of the ladies brought desserts as well.

I am going through the same thing. I will be having a buffet and doing the food all myself...little sausages, bagged ceaser salad, meatballs, cheese tray, finger sandwiches, fruit tray, veggie tray, maybe some pretzles....not sure whatelse...Good luck!!

A buffet is nice - a variety of salads, two meat entrees - roast beef is always nice, and one other like chicken, turkey, or ham; roasted and mashed potatoes, other hot veg., variety of desserts.

how about pasta, garlic bread and salad. that would be easy and economical. or you could make chicken breasts, rice or potatoes, garden salad, rolls. good luck and congrats on your wedding!
