I posted a similar question to this, but I did not get an actual answer to it. How much would it cost to get a wedding gown altered that has a train about 3 ft long and would need 3 inches taken off ALL the way around it (including the train)? The details would not be effected by the alteration.

I had mine done at David's Bridal for I believe $110. May have been less, but no more. Your best bet is to call bridal or formal stores & ask since prices can vary from store to store.

The best place to ask this question would be a bridal shop, since this is a specialized alteration. Usually the bridal shop seamstress will shorten the gown by taking the excess length up at the waist, rather than at the hem, and then adjusting the lower waist/hip seams as necessary. This may sound odd, but it saves a lot of time on wide skirts and is standard practice.

Shortening all around the hem is avoided whenever possible, because of the labor involved. If your dress has princess seams, which are continuous from shoulder (or bustline) to hem, the dress will have to be shortened from the hemline, and this will cost a good bit of money. Good luck!

The seamstress who I went to to work out approximately getting a marriage gown altered quotes $a hundred and forty to do a marriage gown, so i might say which you will possibly desire to save around, yet make confident that the seamstress is used to doing wedding ceremony outfits. it is going to value extra (in spite of if possibly under at David's Bridal), yet it extremely is for the reason which you're procuring particular know-how - wedding ceremony outfits are very different from different outfits, so as that they are extra durable to modify.

you would have to talk to a seamstress or tailor or someone who does the alterations at a cleaner
