Okay, now, I got this crazy idea to do an 80's theme reception. where can I get things for it? What would I get for it?

The reason I thought of doing 80's theme, is bc I think I have decided that I want to us 80's rock love songs. I don't know there is just something about 80's love songs....I love it!!

Anyways, any ideas would be awesome!!

I was born in 81, so, I wasn'y an adult until late 90's!! I wasn't going to dress from the 80's. In fact, we already have all the attire planned, just the theme isn't. All I have left to do is decorate the reception.

I partied my butt off in the 80's....the music was great & so were the love ballads . Sounds like a great idea to me! Party Hardy! Just Google 80's party & see what you get. Any DJ can tailor the music you want. Have fun!!!!

Cute idea for a party, but maybe not for your wedding reception. Remember, the theme of your party is your wedding day! Do you really want to make the 80's the focus? I think you may look back at photos and think it is a bit tacky. You can still play some of the 80's songs that you like, but don't overdo it, remember your guests may not be quite as into the 80's as you.

If you love it, go for it! Just don't go too crazy or your photos will end up looking really dated. Remember, this is what an 80s wedding looked like:

Mostly 80s music would be good - there's a lot of good danceable stuff and you can't hear music in pictures. LOL

You can probably get some good decor ideas from The Wedding Singer movie.

One thing I remembered from weddings in the 80s, and this may just be in the town where I grew up, is they had fake swans or bridesmaid dolls on the hood of the car, and long colored ribbons streaming back towards the doors. There was the limo for the couple, and then a car for each couple of the bridal party. After the ceremony, everyone would get in their cars and drive around town a little bit, honking their horns, then go and take pictures.

Check Oriental trading Company, they have themed party favors and such. Also maybe rent some 80's vintage furniture from a prop place. If you can afford it, I'd say splurge for the lighting designer and really get an 80's mood going on!

That's a good idea since the bright colors are in for weddings right now (tie dye and rubics cubes are things you can include). Maybe give out rubics cubes as the wedding favors. Since you like the music, name each table a song title or artist, then have little decorations and pictures to fit. Like Madonna and her like a virgin stage.

oh huney that is no offense not a good idea. to you really remember the 80's ? big hair poofy sleeves underwear on the out side. if you go through with it it just might turn out like the prom scene in preety in pink. Stick with 80's music that roxs but nix the 80's theme. really it was not the best era.
