I'm getting married Feb. 9, 2008 and I'm trying to start planning a color scheme. But, I can't decide what to do! We don't want a Valentine's Day themed wedding because we both think its kind of cheesy, even though we're having it right near V-Day. We want to stick with a winter theme...lots of sparkle, white xmas lights, candles, very elegant. I'm thinking of using black, red, silver and white as our colors. What do you all think? Do they go good together? Obviously, I'm going to wear pure white...bridesmaids I'm thinking of putting in black because i love how elegant it is...and I'm thinking red flowers...and lots of silvery decorations. I don't know though....I'm open to anything at this point...tell me what you think for a wintery wedding!

I've got about 26 people at my wedding with 3 kids. Since I was little I always wanted the big church wedding but my partner and I are just hardworking normal people who couldn't afford it. We have everyone that matter though. (except my dad who passed away last year) My mum keeps saying it's too small to be a traditional wedding and doesn't think there should be a bridal waltz or bouquet toss. I want to keep it as traditional as possible but can any of you guys think of what would be effected by not having a lot of people? I"m so worried it's just going to turn in to a p*ss up. Also I want to have a place set for my dad at the table even though he's gone. Mum doesn't agree.. What do you guys think?( If you couldn't already tell, my mother has kind of taken over a little but she's helping financially so I'm happy to humor her)

as sisters (aka jie mei), do we need to give red packets too? i was told by some elderly, jie mei dun hv to give red packets, usually the sisters will buy a gift for the bride instead. but these days, other then waking up n helping out the whole day, jie mei are expected to give an extra large red packet for the dinner too. which is which?

My bio Mom is not living. Is it terribly rude to give her "spot" to a favorite aunt? What if I get married before they do, am I required to give his fiance a special role?

How many birdesmaids & groomsmen (besides the m.o.h and best man) are typical at a wedding? Does my future sister-in-law HAVE to be one of them? my guy and me both strongly dislike the way his sister treats us and is jealous of us finding true love before her, and if she has to be invited, I want an excuse as to why we cant use her in the party. Also, if we are paying for it alone, is it safe to tell meddling parents to butt out? (nicely of course!)

My theme is candy and sweets! My colors are champagne and blush (pink wine color). I want a table of all sweets and candy ( we already have a chocolate fountain) that are around the same color scheme as my colors. I want to put all the candy's in big glass bowls and vases and be like a big classy sweet factory. The only candy I found so far is ivory jordan almonds and blush rock candy sticks. Any candy suggestions that match this theme?

Ok....we are going to get married next year, and of course budget is the first thing that comes up in wedding planning. Both of my parents are divorced and not remarried as of yet, and his parents are divorced and his father is remarried and his mother lives with her "life partner". So who pays for what?? I hate to ask my dad for anything because he has been in bad health and has had several surgeries in the last year and has just gone back to work. What do I do?
