as sisters (aka jie mei), do we need to give red packets too? i was told by some elderly, jie mei dun hv to give red packets, usually the sisters will buy a gift for the bride instead. but these days, other then waking up n helping out the whole day, jie mei are expected to give an extra large red packet for the dinner too. which is which?

If you're the younger sister, I don't think you need to give red packets unless you're already married. That's what my parents told me, you don't have to give red packets unless you're married. When my sister got married, I just bought her a gift However, if you can financially afford it you can give a red packet or if not, just buy her a nice wedding gift.

In modern day, most people will give red packet. The "rules" of buying gift only come from like you say, the elderly. Unless your friend specify "pls don't give me red packet", if not, go with the trend by giving red packet, or maybe shopping vouchers. This also avoid the chance to give "duplicate" or "unwanted" gift to your friend. Enjoy the day....

As Jie Mei there is no need for you to give Ang bao to the bride or bridegroom when they help the couples during the day. When you go to dinner, it depends on you alreaady. if the couples did send you an invitation card, then you should give them a Ang Bao.

they have a tea ceremony somewhat of a marriage. The bride positioned on a crimson gown and the groom a blue (uncertain of what it referred to as) outfit. No peculiar huge variety are aloud and NO WHITE. They drink 3 sips of tea each and each and are married. (There extra to it then that of couse) Thats all i know wish it replace into of a few help. purely observed a prior question of yours and The tea ceremony IS the marriage, it does not come after it. they have a reception purely like we do after the tea ceremony.
