My parents are not financially able to pay for it and neither are we.... My fiance wants to just go to the courthouse and get it over with.... Do you think I will regret it if I don't have a "Real" wedding?

I'm getting married later this year and it's not my first wedding BUT it will be my first wedding gown. To save cost I'm buying a beautiful used gown but it's white with white embroidery and white and silver beading. My dilema is that traditionally you only wear white the first time you get married. I thought about trying to get it dyed a pale color but then the beading may all have to be removed. I've also thought about trying to restitch the embroidery in black (our colors are black, white and silver), but not sure how well that would look. Do you think the guests would really frown if I left it white? Any suggestions? This is a very expensive gown that I'm able to purchase at a very good price and I hate to pass it up simply because tradition says I'm not supposed to wear white.

My fiance and I are paying for our wedding ourselves and because of that we feel that the choices that are being made should be up to us. But his mother will not stop offering her opinion. Normally I wouldn't mind, but she keeps putting down ideas that we both love because it's not how she would do it. She's also a very Catholic woman and my fiance and I are not and this is causing conflict between the two of us and with her. How can we politely ask her to keep her opinions to herself? We don't want to alienate her.

Don't get me wrong, I love my girlfriend, but I just can't stand the idea of having a wedding. Sooo many people invited, hardly any of them I really know, the catering, the music, renting out the place, stuff running amuck ... I mean if two people really love each other, why go through all that trouble? Shouldn't this be a personal event between a guy and a gal who like one another, and should not have all these distractions intervening at such an important day? Will my girlfriend flip out when I tell this to her?

I've been losing sleep and been avoiding her for the past couple of days. Please, serious replies only.

My fiance and I live in Indiana County Pennsylvania. We do not attend any churches because he is druid and I really have no religion, but I am leaning towards druid or wicca. So I am sure you can see our problem. Wedding date: September 22, 2007. Our problem is a location and a person to legally perform the ceremony. Any suggestions?

Any ideas for a different wedding, not too fancy, not too expensive, not too big, not the usual hotel idea?

It's a tradition that the bride and groom exchange gifts on their wedding day…
What should I give him on this special day…?

I welcome your suggestions.

Would you be offended to be given an imitation gemstone engagement ring, such as cz, moissanite, or a synthetic gemstone, if money were not an issue?
