Yes I would be offended if I had to find out on my own that something have been given to me turn out different than what I had been told. But as you said if money were not an issue, than why even bother to go through all that process. I had been married for five years. When my husband asked me to marry him there was no ring, just a red rose. After two year of marriage he finally got me a princess cut diamond ring to suprise me on chirstmas. What I mean is if you truely love him then it doesn't matter to have a big diamond ring on the engagement or the wedding. substitude it with something that you both can afford it at the moment. Then after everything is settle. I'm sure you will get a real one. You deserve it after all this.

If money wasn't an issue YES!!! Most definitely!! Then again it's the thought that counts, but still she'll be showing all her friends and as shallow as it seems it's embarassing if it's fake. AT least if you go that route get the moissanite cause those are awesome quality, but for the price you might as well buy real.

I would prefer to choose my own ring personally.... she will be wearing it for a long time - and I would definitely prefer the real thing!
You can go for a special proposal instead - when my husband proposed I was so excited, it didn't matter that there was no ring.
Other friends I know, who have had their ring bought for them would have preferred to choose their own too.
In the end though - its only stuff and how you feel about each other is what matters most....but if you want a yes - a big diamond usually works! (only joking)...

Not if my choices were a man-made diamond or a conflict diamond. under no circumstances would I want a conflict diamond. That said, if money is not an issue, there should be no reason to go fake.

If money was NOT an issue and you knew that for sure (people lie about money often) then I would be offended. If he had money to buy a real one, why not do it? Seriously, make sure that he's really being honest about his money first, it's easy to lie about it.

An engagement ring is only a symbol for the woman to wear that means she is intended.....The wedding ring is the one that should be real....It's something a woman needs....It tells them that they are truly loved.........good luckk

No, technically it really is just jewelry, and when you die it doesn't go with you to heaven anyway. It depends on how greedy and selfish the woman you're potentially going to marry is.

I would, certainly! It bodes more skinflint things for the future! As in marriage! Doesn't it? What a tight-***!

No. I never liked diamonds much, anyway. But I could totally understand how someone else might be.
