For a woman to wear black would be rude and distasteful. I'm sure you already had an idea that it was or you wouldn't be on here asking.

Making the invites formal will help, yet be careful with the words you utilize. you assert you like it "formal, yet no longer black tie". a acceptable experience consistently skill black tie and long robes, and those are extraordinarily much consistently night activities. To be truthful, you won't be able to truly positioned something on the invite approximately clothing, till that's a acceptable experience. although, is that this in a venue? If that's a advantageous venue, maximum folk will understand to no longer gown casually, and you're able to use understand mouth to alert any who won't understand. If it extremely is an outdoors type element, it extremely is style of greater troublesome. you are able to bypass it on by skill of understand mouth, yet you do run a larger threat of human beings dressing for the exterior, and that probably skill informal. In different words, once you're having a daylight hours, outdoors experience, there's a casualness concerning the shape itself which you won't be able to truly override.

If it is an evening wedding, I don't think it is wrong to wear black. I wore a long black gown to two evening weddings. To brighten it up I also added crystal jewerly and a light purple, silk scarf/wrap around my shoulders.
Men, in my opinion could get away with it anytime as they can dress it up with a light color shirt and tie.

No! It's absolute fine! I've been to many weddings, and black is acceptable whether a person is male or female. All anyone cares about is the bride. It's her day. Black is perfectly fine!

Fine unless you're the mother of the bride or groom. Then it looks pointed unless it's a formal evening wedding.

Black is fine...afterall who will be looking at you...all eyes will be on the bride and wedding party. If black is what you feel comfortable in then wear it.
