My brother-in-law is getting married. The bride and I don't really get along, that is putting it mildly. His bride to be has made several comments to let me know that she is only tollerating me and my kids being at the wedding. She has made comments that all the Siblings and spouses are in the wedding party. ( I am not) She has says that the only way to be able to tollerate me is if she is drinking. She has even called my son who is mentally retarded a retard that is going to ruin her day. My brother in law and I have always had an extremly close relationship, but now when we talk it is strained. Most of the family including my brother in law have heard her make these comments. Usually he laughs and tries to blow them off as jokes or finds a way to take her aside and talk to her. Then he's the one that usually appoligizes to me. At this point my husband and I are thinking about not going. This war has been going on for 5 yrs. how do I make it stop and keep peace in the family

I am inviting some people I graduated with to my wedding. Do I need to put "and guest" on the envelope to let them know it's okay to bring someone?

I am putting my maid of honor's name on her invite so that she can save it as a keepsake, but I want her mom and little sister to feel welcome. Would it be okay to invite them via telephone before sending out the invitation?

Is not putting children's names on an invitation (inviting Suzanne and Richard Dean for example) good enough or do I need to put "adults only" on the invitation somewhere?

Thanks in advance for the help.

I will be getting married at our local courthouse. It will just be me and my husband (and a witness).
I won't be getting married in a big formal wedding gown.
I was more thinking about a regular floor length dress.

Does anybody have any ideas or suggestions?
Maybe some good webistes to look at?

Thanks in advance for your answers!

I am 25 and would like to serve a Sangria along with a traditional punch at my 2pm wedding. The problem is that my parents attend a traditional Baptist church, the church I grew up in. The reception will be at a different location not the church.
I was looking for some more mature opinions on the matter.

Im a catholic and Im mexican and my husband is agnostic and he's white. We're already married, but we have been talking about having a religious wedding. He would like a Catholic wedding in Guadalajara, Mexico, where my family is from.

My questions is that If he has no preference over any religion what would be needed in order to do the ceremony? My mom has told me that we both need to be baptized, have our first communion done, a confirmation, and attend meetings at church weeks before getting married. Is this true?

I already have the baptizm and the first communion done, I just need the confirmation. My husband in the other hand doesnt have this, would he need to get it done?

Im so confused about everything it makes me not even want a religious marriage.

I find it very hard to justify how a faithful and good husband, good father who cater and plan the needs of his family in case he died could possibly say he love his wife when he harbour such thought.

2 of my such best friends said its alright as we are men.

Am I silly for being TOO narrow minded?

I'm trying to plan my wedding and my budget. What is the rule? Are my fiance' and i responsible, the wedding party or should we split the cost?? If they pay or we split, how do you ask them?? I just don't want to offend anyone. But we also don't have a lot of extra money either.

My cousin is getting married in two weeks and invited all of the cousins. When we got the invitations all the older cousins were invited & Guest except for myself. I assumed as a 28 year old adult that I was invited with a date. Before responding I even called his mother to confirm and she said of course. Now...less than two weeks before the wedding she called up another cousin complaining that I responded with a date and that this wedding is costing her $200 a plate and that I'm just a kid, etc.; yet there are 18 year olds invited with dates. I just find it a little tacky that a couple who isn't paying for the wedding themselves and whose parent's are extremely wealthy are being so tacky. I never heard of someone my age not being invited with a date. I planned on covering the cost for myself and my guest. What is the etiquette when inviting adults to a wedding? Shouldn't they be invited with a date? And have you ever heard of the cost being thrown out at people? Thanks!

i have a boyfriend and we've been dating for almost 4 years now. the first time i went to their house, i wasn't given the respect that i was expecting from his family. his dad doesn't like me bcoz they have a family friend with a daughter same age as my bf. his dad likes that girl for my bf. well too bad, im still with his son and we're planning to get married this october.

here's the reason why his dad doesn't like me - he said im skinny, he thinks that im sick or an addict - but im not!! it actually runs in our family, we're healthy but its not just obvious bcoz we're not fat. everytime i go to their house, he ignores me, like i dont exist. his mom and grandparents are great! its just his dad.

how would you deal with this kind of situation? how are we going to tell his dad about our wedding plans? im worried that he might not give us the blessings.

My brother is getting married this year...he just had an engagement party and one of his friends has a habit of groping women when he is drunk (including myself). I find this inappropriate behavior appalling and totally disrespectful, and think that many others would as well, especially if he does it at their wedding. I told my brother about it, but he is much more laid back than me, and simply said he was sorry for his friends antics. I really think he should say something to his friend! Someone should say something! right? what would you do? I didnt want to cause a scene at his engagement party and dont want to cause a scene at his wedding, but I do not, and will not tolerate this behavior! what would you do?

A colleague wants me to speak at a banquet. I normally charge for speaking engagements and when I emailed the person and told them I normally charge they ignored that part of email and asked if I would be able to commit to speaking at the engagement. Any suggestions on my next step?

Ok I need help. I have been engaged since July of 06 and I have been planning simple things along the way, in November I asked my father ho much he planned on helping out so I could get a better idea of how much to save. He told me he knew that his responsibility as a father was pretty much everything and he would help alot. So we got through the holidays, lot more planning well now it's January and I told him that I need him to help me start paying for the reception/ceremony hall. He told me he really can't pay for alot and he thought I had all of this figured out but he would help a little. What? I am really hurt about this, he completly backed out and left me hanging. I am so stressed now. How do I move on from this and not have hard feelings for my father? Or any good money saving tips? I have already pretty much eliminated the caterer and florist and found a really cheap photographer, any other suggestions? Thanks!

If you've never heard of this before, it's a reception where the only meal served is dessert. It's considered socially acceptable as long as it isn't during a standard meal time.

Our wedding ceremony will be at 6 in the evening, and there will be half an hour between the ceremony's end (around 6:45-7) and the beginning of the reception. We figure this is a little late to serve a full dinner.

The reception will be formal, we'll be serving wedding cake, cheesecake, and sorbet. There will be dancing, it will have assigned seating. We haven't decided on what alcohol we'll serve, but we'll have a hot cocoa and cider bar. (It will be December)

Would you attend this kind of event? Any suggestions for letting people know we won't be serving dinner? Any other thoughts or ideas? Thanks!
