I do not believe in the institution of marriage. I feel it has outlived its utility. But due to parental and peer pressures i am marrying someone in a months time. I am an independant person but an extrovert. I like solitude but i do an occasional hang out with my female colleagues. Nothing more than an eatout in the evenings. Spending the rest of my life with somebody and having to sleep in the night..., oh! the thought of it. I slept with my mom till i was 10th class. I feel i will lose all my independance. What do you think?

To all of you that are married or engaged.... did you have a feeling that you were getting engaged before it happened?? Did you have the intuition that you were going to marry soon?? I have a big feeling that my boyfriend is going to ask me to marry him soon.... does that mean anything?

My fiance wears his engagement band on his right hand. He says I have to wear mine on my left but then it looks like I'm married and he isn't. I started to wear mine on my right hand now and he says that's not right. Does anyone know the proper etiquette for this?

I need a few ideas on how to do this. I want it to be special. What I was thinking is getting about 5 very nice boxes that fit inside eachother. After we open all other gifts, I'll give the box to her. When she gets to the last (smallest) box, it will have a note that says to look for a special decoration (that I need to get) on the tree, and I'll have the ring on that. FYI, she's also about 5 months pregant. So if anyone has a better idea or something different from what I have planned, please let me know. Thank you all, and have a Merry Christmas

My Bestfriend is getting married in May, This is the first time I've been a bridesmaid in a wedding where I wasn't related to the Bride so I'm not certain if I purchase my Bridesmaid dress or if the Bride does.

Also if I do pay for my dress, would it be rude of me to ask if she can pick a cheaper dress as I am just barely affording my plane ticket to fly out to where she lives and am expecting a child next month so I don't really have a lot of money.

It is important for you that your fiancee get the ring first??

For me its not that important because all i want is to be with him... not the ring.

My father passed away and my stepfather is unable. I thought it would be good to have my daughters (12 and 5) to walk me. Then have a hand blessing ceremony and present them with their gifts first. We aren't doing a unity candle. Other then that it would be my cousin (more like my brother), a different cousin (like a father figure) or my uncle (the only one I have).

My husband and I had to get married quick b/c he was leaving for Germany and only had a week and a half of leave, and he asked me unexpectedly. How many people have gone back a couple years later and had traditional weddings and would you recommend it?

We are currently looking at photographers for our wedding. We're quite interested in the more modern, reportage-style photographs rather than formal shots.

Has anyone here had these sort of photgraphs taken at their weding? What did you think? Are there any circumstances where a more relaxed form of photography is not a good idea?

I am marrying my Indian fiance in India next July, and he has been here in England illegally for 7 years (of which we have been together 3, just so you don't think i am being tricked into getting him a visa). I have looked all over the internet and tried to contact his embassy, but i just can't seem to find any solid evidence of exactly what we will need to do to successfully obtain a visa for him after we are married. Any suggestions very gratefully appreciated!
