To all of you that are married or engaged.... did you have a feeling that you were getting engaged before it happened?? Did you have the intuition that you were going to marry soon?? I have a big feeling that my boyfriend is going to ask me to marry him soon.... does that mean anything?

I think we both knew we would eventually marry. But no, had no specific feeling before he asked. I think you have wishful thinking if you try to prejudge it.

No, I actually didn't know it was going to happen. We had talked about getting engaged for a long time but we both wanted to wait so we had the money. Right before he proposed to me, we had talked about waiting a year to do it. Then a week later he popped the question. I was so shocked but very exicted and now we are getting married in September of 2007.

I knew only because my now husband and I talked about it. We had a plan as to when we thought it would be good for us to get married. You know, graduate from college, get a better job things like that.
After all that happened, I knew the engagement was going to happen, but I didn't know exactly when.
It was only a matter of time before we were engaged and a year later we were married.

If it happens for you, all the best!

No idea - none at all. I knew from shortly after my husband and i started dating that i wanted to marry him, but we dated for 5 years, no mention of marriage. One weekend before Mardi Gras week started here in St. Louis, he totally blew me away! I had no idea until i saw THE box (and you girls that are/have been engaged all know THE box) in his hand.

Intuition is a fine thing, and i am normally very in tune, but seriously - I was taken completely by surprise. And in October it was 8 years married. Best of luck, dearie!

Yeah since my man isn't too romantic or sometimes can really not keep much of a surprise. He actually called me from the Jewelry Store to ask me what size ring I wear, not thinking that we have caller id and that it would come up on it! So, when he got home, I knew what he was going to do. Yes, we did talk about it and I knew it would happen but just when I wasn't sure.

I knew before my fiance proposed, but it was because we had talked about marriage and even engagement before. Of course, just because you talk about it, doesn't mean the question is coming. Don't get your hopes too high, because if he doesn't then you'll be really disappointed or possibly put him on the spot, even if he's not ready. Good luck!

If he asks around for your ring size, it can be a good sign, but he could also be buying you a regular ring.

yea but it was kind of messed up. We started off just wanting to be a summer fling couple but its lasted for almost two years and that whole time we would joke and say we would get married. Then we had a bad fight and he left to go to basic training, i still loved him and just knew how he would be without me, and i was right he sent me a letter saying he couldnt wait to see me so he could look me in the eyes and ask me to marry him. It was sweet. We are getting married later this month.

Well my fiance and I used to talk about marriage so that is the first step... have you talked about it.... then yes I had a feeling that it was coming soon, but that's just because we both were finishing up college so I knew it would around that time anyway.... but if you and your bf talk about marriage and you have that feeling..... always follow your gut.... so he you'll probably be engaged by christmas... good luck

Yes. We had looked for rings months before. My boyfriend was leaving for Cuba for a week and just before he was leaving he insisted on coming over on a Wednesday night (rare since we lived an hour apart.) I just knew that he was going to propose. I was useless at work that day and left early. Knowing he wouldn't be expecting me early and not wanting to ruin anything. I drove around until I usually would get home. He had been busy trying to track down my Dad to tell him of his intentions (how sweet). He gave me a poem that he had written for me and asked me to marry him. Its been 5 amazing years and two wonder children.
