Men don't wear an engagement ring. But since you want to do that go for it. Let him wear it wherever, but I would think the left ring finger is better. But then he won't have room for the wedding ring. When you get married he could then move the ring to the right hand or not wear it at all.
Traditionally a woman wears the engagement ring on the left ring finger. When the wedding happens the rings are moved so that the wedding band is closer to the heart then the engagement ring put back on after it. The wedding ring never comes off.
Start your own tradition with the men's ring. Its no one's place to judge you. Unless your not sure he is faithful then rethink getting married.

Proper etiquette would be determined by your local customs and traditions. In the US it isn't typical for a man to where an engagement ring at all. I had a good friend from Iceland...and there both men and women wear matching bands during the engagement and the woman doesn't get her diamond ring until the morning after the wedding...hmmm.
So, what is the right answer for my area may be different than yours.
But...the real point is that it doesn't matter. Regardless if you look "married" or not, it shouldn't change your behavior. So...if looking married bothers you so much...but you want to marry the guy who gave you the ring...you may want to evaluate the situation. Heck, if my fiance asked me to wear my ring on my toe, I would...it might get a bit uncomfortable...but I'd give it a shot. I love him and the ring is just a symbol of our commitment...its not the whole kit and caboodle.

Mostly men don't wear engagement rings. However all weding rings and engagement bands are worn on the left ring finger. For the woman from what I've heard after the wedding the wedding band is worn closest to the heart (so the wedding band would go on first then the engagement ring after) because the wedding band represents life long love and a life long engagement theirfor should be worn closest to the heart. Then the engagement ring sould be worn on the outside because that is what brought you to the point of having a wedding band.

A womans engagement ring is worn on the left had ring finger. This shows engagement. The wedding band is added at the wedding on top of the engagement. After the ceremony the ring order is switched to put the band on the inside. The two bands shows marraige. I've never heard of a man wearing an engagement ring. They only get a ring when married and it also goes on the left hand ring finger.

I've never heard of the guy wearing an engagement band, good for you! That said, traditionally yours should go on the left hand. Wedding bands are generally less ornate, smaller and worn with the engagement ring so I don't think too many people will confuse the two.

A guy with an engagement ring, odd but not impossible. Your ring finger on the left is the only finger with a vein gong straight to the heart which is why engagement and wedding rings for both male and female are worn there.

Engagement rings are worn on the ring finger of the left hand. After you're married, they are worn on the ring finger of the right hand. Men usually don't wear engagement rings at all.

Proper proper would be woman wears her ring on her left ring finger and guy doesn't wear an engagment ring period..... he wears a ring after the wedding.... that is the most common way, but I would say if you both have an engagement ring, then yes he should wear his ring on his left ring finger also... but ideally he shouldn't be wearing one at all.
