With so many marriages ending up in divorce are we looking for the wrong things? What really stabilises a relationship and makes it last? What is the key to a happy married life?

I have a Tiffany's solitare engagement ring, with the appraisal form from the store. It is in its box and in mint condition. Do you know where I can sell it besides eBay or a pawn shop??

My son is getting married and most of our family and friends live out of state, are we, as the grooms parents, responsible for our out of town guests hotel bills?

last night my bf asked me to marry him and because i no it is true love i said yes even tho we have only been together for 6 months. we live together but my mum doesnt like him scince i moved in with him how do i tell her that we are engaged?i no this is the person i want to spend the rest of my life with and we were really good friends before w got together. i love every little thing about him (even his snoring that keeps me awake at night)everything i wouldnt change a thing about him and it was only when i moved out of my mums she started to not like him before then she loved him as she said he was a proper gentleman and she hadnt seen me so happy for years.so now that she dont like him how do i tell her as she can be violent and agressive and i dont want her to giveme aload of abuse i was thinking of writing her a letter to tell her so she can read it as i will find it easier to explain things to her like that as she wont be constantly interupting me and then and see what happens

My engagement ring is an eternity style band of fire opals, which are my favourite stones, I know it's not traditional but that's what my b/f picked out, and I love it. However, I have had a few negative comments about it and have even been told that opals are for tears, or are bad luck, I just wondered if anyone else has heard this before? It won't change how I feel about my ring, as I love it, and he could not have chosen better.

this is what's up. I am getting married in about 4 months and nothing is coming together. I want a small wedding, but my fiance's family is so big that small is out of the picture. I feel frantic and very irrational. Nothing is done and we have very little time or money to pull all of this together. No dress, no place, no photographer, no cake. We only have hopes. I can't change my wedding date. What would you do?

Need a wedding gift for couple (very young) that will be living with her parents. I want to give them something special and memorable but everyone thinks they need practical stuff instead. But, how much practical stuff do you need when you're living with your Mom? Don't want to give them anything that Mom will use. Don't want to give them money or gift card. Any creative ideas?

How common is it to have the wedding ceremony and the reception in the same place?

I am planning an early September wedding, and do not want to pay a fee for a church (since neither of us a religous, it's not necesary for us), so I may have the ceremony in my parent's yard, which is also the most likely location for the reception.

Most weddings I've been to, the ceremony is in one place, and then you drive or go into a different building for the reception.

And how would I set it up? Would it be weird to see the reception tent from the seats for the ceremony?

My brother recently got engaged. His fiance and I were best friends and even lived together for a semester. We got into a huge argument because I thought she was very selfish. We haven't spoken since that fight. My brother and I also have not been on speaking terms for the past three years. They asked me to be in their wedding in whatever way I was most comfortable, either as part of the wedding party or doing a reading. I don't even know if I should attend the wedding. What should I do?

How do I get through airport security with an engagement ring. My g/f will be next to me. I could insure it and check it, but I would prefer to keep it with me somehow. I never have carry on so if I do it now it would seem out of the ordinary.
