Need a wedding gift for couple (very young) that will be living with her parents. I want to give them something special and memorable but everyone thinks they need practical stuff instead. But, how much practical stuff do you need when you're living with your Mom? Don't want to give them anything that Mom will use. Don't want to give them money or gift card. Any creative ideas?

a nice bed cover
a cute night light
something they can use at bedroom for decoration
since bedroom will be the only room that will belong to them ( and only to them )

Do they have a registry? That is your absolute best bet, because they've picked those things out by themselves.

I am planning to be married in September of next year, and we are (and will still be) living in the apartment under my mom and dad, that they are renting to us. As it stands now, we spend much of our time upstairs because the carpet is ruined, and the baby cannot be down on it, so until we replace that (hopefully by the end of the month!), we aren't really getting any of our living stuff together, so many 'practical' things like that will be on the registry.

I would love to get things like monogrammed towels, funky table lamps, bed linens, or something like that.

But on the other hand, a nice wedding album with their names on the cover would be very personal, and useful at the same time.

Good luck!

Are they going on a honeymoon? if so find out what hotel they are staying at and have a gift basket waiting in their room. I bet if you called the hotel they could help you figure something out. or give them money to buy something special from their honeymoon. or set it up so that they can have surf lessons, go snorkling, helicopter ride, boat ride etc... think of where they are going and then maybe pay for a special event at their honeymoon.

If you don't want to do this get them a new bedding set start a savings account for them

Give them a gift certificate to a nearby bed and breakfast so they can get away for a weekend somewhere quaint and romantic for some private time. They're going to crave that since they'll be living with her parents.

Something like a teapot and some nice tea bags would be nice, but mom could potentially use them. I think that the weekend getaway would be nice for them.-A chance to get away from all of the chaos.

They're young and adventurous so I'd look for silk sheets or massage oils. If you don't want to go with something like that, buy them something totally unique looking from Ikea. You can never go wrong there.

since they will be limited in space, a set of nice wooden bed trays with side magazines holders would be nice. it could be breakfast in bed or to play cards on or reading or doing bills and will still be use full when they move into their own home. and more practical financially.

How about a night or a week-end at a bed and breakfast place? Someone gave that to my daughter and son in law and they were thrilled. Or a gift cert. at a fancy restaurant.

A trip, doesn't have to be real expensive but I bet your friends would love to be able to get away even after their married. Possibly to a really cute B&B away for the weekend.
