I've heard from several married couples to expect 75% of your invitees to actually show up. What percentage would you say? Or better yet... how many people did you invite to YOUR wedding vs. how many people actually showed up?

(Me and my finance' are planning for a 100 person wedding but don't want any empty chairs and we SURE don't want too many people.)

My son has my last name and all three of us would like to have the same last name once we are married (2 1/2 weeks from now). I know my son's father will not let me change my son's last name to my fiance's, though they get along. We came to the conclusion that my fiance should take my last name and the problems are solved. My FMIL though is very controlling and I know she will have a fit when she finds out. How can I explain to her that this means a lot to us and is the right thing for our family? She probably won't care if it is right for us though. I just want her to at least understand and hopefully someday accept it.

I don't know whether to have a small or large wedding...Does anyone regret spending a lot of money on their wedding overall, or wish you didn't get such an expensive dress? Why? Or, does anyone regret not having a larger wedding, and why? I just don't know if I will regret spending a lot of money for just one day in my life. I'm sure the day will just be as special if I don't buy a designer dress, tons of flowers, a fancy cake, etc. Any advice y'all could give me would greatly appreciated!

She just gave me 1 month to decide if i will want to marry her in the future. When we began our reationship she thought like me, mariage is a useless step in this life; suddently, she thinks otherwise...now if i don't accept to marry her, she will leave me...stupid question maybe but, has this ever happened to any of you? What have you done??

Regards

I'm 23 yrs. old. My mom and I have been pretty close for the past few years until I got engaged to a wonderful man. My mom is a very over protective person. It seems as though she dosen't support the decisions I make for myself anymore. I am very responsable and pay my own bills, clothes, etc. There are times when she dosen't talk to me for days, when I try to talk about my wedding, which is not until 2008, she just changes the subject. My fiance and myself opened a savings account together to save for our wedding. When she found out she said I was very foolish and made a big mistake. I try so hard to talk to her about how I feel. But she dossen't want to hear it. She listens for a minute and walks away. Just recently we had an argument. I'm on my last thread and thinking about moving in with my fiance and his parents. But I don't know how to tell mom. What should I do?

My grandmother sent us a gift in the mail. We wish not to keep the gift. Because she did not want to come to the reception. I'll feel if she didnt want to come to the reception, then i dont want her gift. I asked for her to be there, not the gift.

My good friend is getting married. He asked me what he should get the groomsmen. I told him forget the flask, moneyclip, or any other normal gift. Just take us to a suite, hand us envelopes full of singles and have a couple strippers for us. Some have loved this plan other not what is the general thought.

I am 24 years old and paying for my own wedding. My fiance and I live in AZ but are orginally from TX. I'm from Austin, and he's from a small town, Taylor. His ENTIRE family lives there other than his brother and parents who live in AZ as well. My fiance and I found that it would cost us no less than 15k to be married in Austin. We've decided to get married in Maui, where we could also stay for our honeymoon. His parents say they can't afford to go, so does his brother and his wife (which is a whole other can of worms not to mention a lie) Maui is what we've decided to do. His mother wants us to get married in his home town, and probably have the ceremony in a VA hall which is not the wedding I have been planning since I was a little girl. My family AND friends can all afford to go. His mother tells me this isn't fair, yet her and her husband fly back and forth to TX almost every three months. OH, the biggest deal yet, she doesn't want to pay for ANYTHING. What do I do?

I would love to have any suggestion, idea, piece of advice, or memory of your own wedding that could help make my wedding as special and unique as possible. Anything from food to favors to music... anything at all.

I am getting married next May. The problem is my mother. EVERYDAY my Mom comes up with some new idea for the wedding. She emails me like 15 times a day with a link to this website or that website and wants me to check out every little idea. She is constantly trying to change my ideas and even wants me to change my wedding colors and cake ideas because she doesnt like them.

She wants me to change the favors and wants me to use every idea she comes up with. If I tell her I dont like something she came up with, she gets very offended. I am at my wits end! I am using the caterer she likes, the photographer and the DJ she wants. I would like some of this to be my ideas....

How do i explain to her that I appreciate her excitment but I dont want to feel guilty when i turn down her ideas-

Im her only daughter and she constanly reminds me this is the only wedding she will ever plan so she just wants everything to be perfect... What should i do? I just feel really bad....

I was told that only the bride can wear white. But then a few of us argued that if you wear another color top, or vice versa it's perfectly acceptable. Someone else argued that you can wear whatever you want, that the no white was antiquated. The bride isn't even wearing white, she's wearing ivory.... I'm not sure what the protocol is here. Help please!

I'm helping a friend plan her Aspen wedding (we live in Houston, TX) and we are having a terrible time finding people to help plan her Aspen wedding. More specifically, she desperately needs a wedding coordinator in Aspen or who knows the area well enough to manage the wedding for her. Looking online has not turned up anyone.
Any ideas on how to find such a person?

I am ready to step up and propose to the love of my life. Should I ask for her dad's blessing? I keep getting mixed signals. I want to, but we aren't that close. Should I just do it out of consideration for their family? She is the only daughter.

I am planning a small wedding. I would like to have food that everyone wants. If you were a guest at a wedding, would you like a casual bbq type wedding outside with beer and wine or a fancy dinner served to you?
