I'm getting married next June and I want my wedding to be really unique. Does anybody have any special ideas? We're getting married by the lake.

1. For a unique party favor my groom and I are giving out lottery tickets. Only $1 each.. I will have a note in the program stating the tickets were chosen because we are so lucky to have our family and friends with us on our wedding day.
I will also add a line that all winnings will need to be split with the bride and groom!

2. Instead of having an ordinary guestbook, that you hardly will look at again, I am going to create a photo guest book. My guestbook attendants will take polaroids of each guest... either individually or in a group, however they come, and put it on the pages of the guestbook/scrapbook. The guests will then sign on the bottom of their picture. My fiance and I will then have a photo album of all the guests at our wedding! :) GST

3. We are getting married next year and instead of the traditional wedding we have decided to go with a "rock-n-roll" theme. We are going to have records displayed around the hall with our names on them and a picture of the two of us. Our colors are navy blue, black and silver so there will be plenty of those colors…from the silver glitter on the black tables cloths to the silver spray painted roses.

4. Since this is a second marriage and there are children that will be blended into a new family, we are decorating the tables at the reception with photo trees holding photos of my future husband and I and our children doing things together. We feel it shows that this marriage is not the union of just two people, but the formation of a new family.

5. We had a shortage of single men and women invited to our wedding, most of our friends and family were already married. So we needed to come up with something different to replace the traditional bouquet and garter throwing. We invited everyone to the dance floor and the dj played several lovely, slow songs. First the dj told all couples married two hours or less to sit down (everyone got a kick out of that). Then a few moments later, any married a year or less, than five years, ten years and so on, until there was only one couple left. They were neighbors and friends of my family and had been married for fifty years. We asked them to stay on the dance floor while I took a seat and my husband made a big show of removing my garter. We then faced the winning couple, congratulated them on their fifty years and asked them for their best marriage advice as we presented them with the bouquet and garter. They were very touched and it gave us a great feeling too.

Like Fairies? Have the wedding at Dusk next to the lake. Use twinkle lights to light your way down the isle. Lots of candles, Maybe even hung from the trees!!! Dress your flower girl as a Fairy (don't buy a costume--- make it!! Lots of glitter tulle!!! Simplicity makes a great pattern!!) and your ring bearer as a garden gnome ( you don't have to use the traditional colors--use your wedding colors in darker tones. For example Wedding colors= Lavender and Light green use dusty purple and sage green for the costume!) Have the men dress in Medieval type garb such as Poet shirts and dark pants with lace up boots and the women in fairy type dresses with light flowing material.

Also if it is an outside wedding you need to pick either an alternative place to have the ceremony and celebration or have a second date in mind. The weather is one thing you should not rely on. It changes constantly and most weather forecasters are hit and miss at best.

Hope this gets your mind jogging!! and happy congrats to you both!!!!

I've done a few things for my wedding that I felt were unique. I made my own invitations and they were unique. They were not traditional, but at the same time, they were still classy and elegent. I also made my unity candle, which is the same, I got the ideas for different candles, but I mixed them up, and used a few different ones. Also, at our reception we're not serving a meal or finger foods. I want desserts only. We will have a bride's cake and groom's cake, but everything else will be gerorgeous desserts in platters and stands and trays. Chocolate fountains and fruit and all sorts of individual desserts and lots of candies. We'll also serve coffee and water, in addition to the punch. That is probaby the most creative thing I can sugguest, but for your outside wedding in June, you would have to choose desserts that would not melt.

If you like theme weddings try the high class forties. Decorations are fun and beautiful. and when everyone is dancing have lil books that attch to the wrist and have a small pen on them. when you dance with someone new have them write their name down. makes great party favors. and the wedding party can keep them as a lovely memory. or you can have a color wedding everything in a certain color with different shades. all women wear blue and men were green. make it fun and interesting.

If getting married at the lake maybe you all could go casual...you in a white summer dress barefoot with casual for guests...make it barbecue style reception, bonfire etc, and just have fun with the people that mean the most to you...and open your presents!

I axed the flower girl. I had the bridesmaids hold a handful of flower petels in one hand and a single longstemed rose in another. (Just make sure the bridesmaids hold their flower straight!)

We wrote our own vows

I had a unity candle but the side candles were votives in wine goblets. (Something to think about since wind might be a factor.)

To get the guys and girls up to catch the boquet/garter we played the mission impossible song for about 30 seconds.

When I was throwing the boquet the music changed from "Save the Best for Last:" to "Jaws"

We played "Let's Get It On" for the Garter toss

Do a seashell theme - have the cake decorated with shells, maybe for your table centerpieces have glass mirrors in the center, small lit candles, wrapped lightly with ivy and sprinkle a handfull of seashells all around.
