My good friend is getting married. He asked me what he should get the groomsmen. I told him forget the flask, moneyclip, or any other normal gift. Just take us to a suite, hand us envelopes full of singles and have a couple strippers for us. Some have loved this plan other not what is the general thought.

If you all are into strippers then by all means rent some strippers.

From a female perspective, NOT! If ya'll would rather have a night out than groomsmen's gifts, I'd suggest he take the guys out for a big steak dinner, then bowling, shooting pool, or rent a bunch of action/adventure dvd's to show on a big screen TV ... maybe all of the above and make a long night of it.

Generally, the groomsman gifts are supposed to be something lasting like a nice pen, swiss army knife, watch, cuff-links, or something that reflects the tastes and values of the groomsmen. You don't want to make the groomsman uncomfortable. Its up to the groom to know what his groomsman will like and if a night on the town is what they all want -- more power to them.

The point of these gifts is to thank the groomsmen for taking the time and expense in helping him get to the altar.

If you have a girlfriend and/or the other groomsmen are also in a relationship, then ask your girlfriend/wives first if it's ok. More likely, they won't agree to it. So I would stay off the stripper thing to be safe and just go out to a karaoke bar/club with the guys because it's cheaper and you'll have more fun and plus it's safe!

That sounds so much better than just getting a silly gift that you'll never use, and one last night of fun for the boys! I would totally be up for my fiance doing that with his friends before the wedding - kind of like a bachelor party, but with only the closest friends there. Strippers and beer - who could ask for a better groomsmans' gift?

It really depends on the personality type of everyone involved. You wouldn't want to embarrass anyone or make someone uncomfortable. And if wives or girlfriends wouldn't approve, it'd probably be better to do something calmer. But if everyone in the wedding party is okay with it and their counterparts don't mind, go for it. There's nothing wrong with doing something unique for a gift.

I'm the type of bride who would object. I would never go for my hard earned money going to a stripper. No way in hell.

Be respectful to your girlfriend and do not party with strippers. The fact that you would even consider doing this is just sad.

not so much. seems like something to do at the bachelor party.

how about this idea. get each grooms man a cooler and fill it with their favorite alcohol/beer and tickets to a ball game. sounds like more fun than just another night of T & A .

Yeah, totally. Tell them they can keep the change if they choose not to take part in the stripper. (So that those w/ morals can be compensated for it. ;-D )
