My fiancee and I are getting married in the USA next year, he is american, I am from new zealand, and we live in new zealand. We will be travelling back to the USA to get married in his hometown...My problem is that receiving gifts will be very difficult to transport back to new zealand, and that money would be a better solution, as then we could buy things for our home once we returned home. How do we ask for money without coming across as greedy and ungrateful?

what is their obligation? I am 29 years old, and am getting married in Mexico to my beautiful wife, we already had the civil wedding on April 8, 2005, where we got married on 1 weeks notice, my wifes 2 sisters who live in Los Angeles, went on such short notice, none of mine showed up. My siblings have known for over 6 months that the wedding will be in Mexico and on July 16, 2006, and none have made any effort or talked to me about attending. The only ones so far that will accompany me are my parents.

My mother has told me that they too feel hurt that I have never formally asked them to join me, I havent really sat down with them because I feel I dont have to tell them their invited, they are my siblings. Out of the five 3 can afford to go, the other 2 have financial problems and I understand them. I have never seen eye to eye with them and feel they are totally disrespecting this special occasion, I would have made every possible effort to attend their wedding. Should I feel this

Can't afford to invite many people to the reception, but have a HUGE list of people who want to go to the ceremony. What should we do? Just keep it small as possible or open the wedding to all and keep the reception private? HELP!!!! Please!

Due to budget and time restraints, my fiance and I were going to have a small family wedding and reception. My fiance has a HUGE family and I have a small family. We were originally going to limit the guests to parents and siblings and one or two close friends. He has SUDDENLY decided that he wants his aunts and uncles and cousins invited to the wedding, but we don't have the resources to invite them to the reception also. Should we invite them to the wedding but not the reception and maybe provide snacks and punch for them? What should we do. Looking for creative solutions to this problem.
Thank you

I've been with my boyfriend for 6 months and we are getting married in 3 more months. Does anyone else think it's too early to be getting married? I don't think so.

I have been widowed once, then married several times after, which turned into divorce all because the men in my life were mentally or physcially abusive. I have moved on with my life with the help of counceling, family and friends.

I have met the most wonderful man that everyone in my family and including my friends approve of. Now thats a first. He and I both love each other very much and feel that we are soul mates. He is the first man in my life, who thinks of me before himself, and takes care of himself so he can take care of me. He is wonderful to me and makes me feel good about myself. I made a list of things I want in a man, and he made the list. Everything I have asked God to send me, has come true.

I want to look good when I marry him, but I know that first marriages are the long white gown, second marriages are a off white, etc. This wedding is going to be very simple and inexpensive.

My boyfriend and I don't really have any adult friends/family that we want in our wedding. But we do have some children that we want. Basically I have 2 brothers 14 and 5 I want included. My mom's friend's daughter who is 13, and my neice who is 5. I'm also considering 2 of the 4 children I care for as a nanny - a boy and a girl. My boyfriend doesn't care too much about the wedding. He's very close to my side of the family, he doesn't have anyone he wants in it from his side.

I want to know if this would be okay for a wedding or would it seem weird?
