Traditionally I believe it is the Best Man but I have been to weddings lately that it has been the Best Man and the Maid(Matron-if married)of Honor. I have also seen other people make toasts, depends upon the family and how they all are!!! Some weddings they are big on the toast, and other weddings people would rather dance and celebrate that way! Whatever works for ya!

u can do whatever u want nowadays. I think the best mans speech is always the one everyone is always counting on happening, and anything on top of that is sort of extra. i guess a lot of maids of honor are doing speeches too now but i think it should be up to them if they want to do it. i dont ever remember seeing the bride and groom, or the parents of, do a speech, but people do what they want, it is their wedding..

usually the Best man and the Maid of honor do the toast, but it is becoming more and more common for the floor to be opened up by the DJ after those two toasts to anyone who wants to say a few words

It doesn't matter. I'm having the best man, maid of honor, and then I know for sure my fiance is going to say a "thank you" toast. Anyone who feels the need to really. Sometimes even the priest does.

We had the best man and maid of honor. The best man welcomed me to the family because my maid of honor wasn't related. My family welcomed my husband to the family while we were in the receiving line.

The best man for sure, maid of honor maybe, parents if they really want to, everyone else, it's up to them. If you really want to know about reception speech etiquette, check out this web site http://advancedvideo.50webs.com They have a wedding articles page and one of the articles I saw dealt with preparing for, or making a reception speech. Check it out, it was interesting.

Honesty, I don't even remember who did speeches at my wedding. I know the best man (my husband's brother) was offended because he didn't recieve an engraved invitation to speak (according to my mother in law) and I don't think my maid of honor said anything.
