I have been widowed once, then married several times after, which turned into divorce all because the men in my life were mentally or physcially abusive. I have moved on with my life with the help of counceling, family and friends.

I have met the most wonderful man that everyone in my family and including my friends approve of. Now thats a first. He and I both love each other very much and feel that we are soul mates. He is the first man in my life, who thinks of me before himself, and takes care of himself so he can take care of me. He is wonderful to me and makes me feel good about myself. I made a list of things I want in a man, and he made the list. Everything I have asked God to send me, has come true.

I want to look good when I marry him, but I know that first marriages are the long white gown, second marriages are a off white, etc. This wedding is going to be very simple and inexpensive.

When my mom married my stepfather she wore a shorter white almost business like suit, but it wasn't business, it was very pretty. It had a floral white pattern on it.

Lots of people have very informal weddings, even on their first marriage. You could wear a breezy summer dress with flip-flops like my sister in law did. My brother and the groomsmen wore khaki's and a black jacket. He wore Converse Allstars as shoes!

Congratulations on finding such a wonderful guy, I hope you two really live "happily ever after!" As far as the wedding dress thing goes, I've never understood the mentality that women marrying for the 2nd or 3rd time shouldn't wear a white dress. A wedding is a wedding no matter what number it is, and you should look and feel like a bride. You don't have to spend a ton of money on anything fancy, just get an inexpensive white wedding dress. Good luck.

Congrats!!! A June bride ~
Today almost anything goes! Some first time brides are even choosing to wear "shades" of color. So, with that being said if you want wear white- I think considering it is a summer wedding ( not sure of time)but a white/off white tea length dress would be suitable. For a some color- add a sash ( the same color of your attendants or a color that would compliment) Wrap sash around your waist, tie off slightly to the right side, make a bow (not over sized to take away from the dress or your flowers) and place a floral crystal pin in center of bow to secure.
This can also be done with most prints as well.Just pick a color and fabric for the sash to compliment ( not over power) the dress.
OR*******
A nice printed "garden" dress( tea length) with floppy hat...remember it is June, it will be warm ( if not hot) be comfortable.
What ever you choose- you will look stunning!!!!! You will be a beautiful bride.
Many wishes filled with happiness and blessings.Enjoy

Well, I'm not sure exactly what your looking for or what kind of wedding your having, but there are alot of options. If you dont want a wedding dress, you could look at a bridal store and pick out a bridesmaid dress in any colour you want to. Department stores carry plenty of prom and special occasion dresses that you could pick through and find something you like too, or if you want informal and casual then try a pretty sun dress. If its a sumemr wedding then go with a nice summer colour like a pretty pastal pink or maybe a pale yellow or off white. The thing is, there is no right or wrong, especially these days. Some people still wear white for their second, third or even any wedding. Its totally up to you on what you like. Try going to a bridal shop and telling them what kind of thing you are looking for and see what they show you that some people go for on thier wedding day thats not their first. even if you choose not to buy it at a bridal shop, you can get an idea as to what to look for elsewhere. You can aslo try something like a skirt and jacket type thing. almost like a suit, but not as buisness-like. just remember to make yourself happy. I had a very inexpensive wedding, but i still went all out with my wedding dress. congrats and best of luck to you.

You should feel free to wear white! It sounds like you're making a new beginning in your life, and wearing a white dress would be symbolic of that.
For a simple wedding, a shorter (knee to mid-calf length) dress looks really nice. You could get it in a sophistocated fabric like satin or taffetta and it would still look very much like a wedding dress even though it's not a traditional length or style.
Chadwick's has an ivory strapless tafetta gown that's very pretty - http://www.chadwicks.com/product.aspx?PfId=87500&DeptId=8219&producttypeid=1&PurchaseType=0

J. Crew has some really nice dresses in their wedding section, but they're a bit more spendy!

Good luck, I hope you have a beautiful wedding!

First off, Congrats! I saw that some of your other answers said J Crew was a good store and I agree. My bridesmaid's dress is a simple white cotton dress, about mid-calf length. I think you would look very beautiful in it.

PS: It comes in strapless and halter styles.

Wear whatever color you want! Maybe a pretty pink formal type dress or any other color is fine! Good for you for getting help with your track record in men - abusive situations are not easy. I'm happy to hear you've found someone that treats you right. Good luck!
