Family - August 2007

I have a really great family. Each loves me and my parents work really hard to earn decent wages.
The thing is Im VERY different to all of them.
... I read alot and my sister always slags me calling me boring ... My mother always says 'why dont you go outside and excercise, socialise - but she doesnt realise the only thing people my age (17) is drink and have sex . . . Not what I want.
My Dad is loud and abbrasive, he is known to my cousins as 'their crazy wild uncle' but to me, he is silly and loud ...

I just feel confined, and were going away tomorrow on a family holiday, all they want to do is lay on the beach, and then go out and drink at night.
I want to go to Museum's, sites and carnivals...

I just feel so dumb and out numbered, I feel like Im adopted sometimes....

Hi. I'm 16 years old and a few months ago, i put on a bit of weight and got a little taller, and as a result, i've been left with many stretch marks that are really visible. They're mainly around my belly button and love handles.

I'm going to a Haven holiday camp in 2 weeks, with my family and there is a swimmingpool there. I'm really worried about what they are going to think when i take off my t-shirt and they see all these stretch marks.

The kids who are going with us like to speak there mind, whatever it is, so most likely they are going to mention it.

I'm really really worried about it. I can just say ''I don't want to go swimming'' but that will most likely leed to more and more questions.

Please, i need some support!. Parents, what would you say if you're son/daughter revealed they had many stretch marks.

My family has always been a really close knit family....BUT My alcoholic brother-in-law called yesterday in a drunk rage and told my mom and dad that we could have nothing to do with my sister or my nephew...He said dont call and dont come by.....He is such an A$$ and my sister doesnt have much of a back bone to tell him that, that is not acceptable....HELP!!...What can I do??What should I do??...My sister is a grown women and should be able to stand up and choose who she wants to associate with....

My mum and i generally have a good relationship,and don't fight much.Seeing as it as the summer,my family had taken me away on hols quite a bit,and since i've been back,i've wanted to spend the time with my friends & boyfriend.This weekend,there is a huge concert going on,& my friends & i are staying at my auntie's.However,i've been banned from staying over in the past because my mum & dad really dislike her husband.Last night,i stayed at my boyfriend's all night and didnt come home until about 5am.She was in bed,but in the morning she was livid.She's saying 'she has no idea what i get upto' as if im some kind of tart & i'm so irresponsible.I guess i just took advantage because she didnt give me a time tocome home,but now she's not letting me and my friends stay over at my aunt's anymore.Everytime i see her she shouts at me and i cry,i've said sorry all i can.What do i do now?

(my choice),my parents are both elderly and my mother is handicapped,my dad is slowly recuperating from a brain injury and dementia.between the two of them always nit picking with me theres a lot of inner turmoil here,i would like to move out but im on ssi checks every month and finding a sutable place thats close to our house may be impossible.i dont drive so i may have to use public transportation. thats not my problem ,my problem is my parents,theyve got a strangle hold on me,im not even free to visit my aunt in florida for two weeks! god forbid i should ask them,its no,youre going to annoy them (baloney) they like it when i visit them,and it gives me a well deserved rest. there are times when i feel like putting an end to all this riff-raff ,but i havent got then nerve. whats the solution? i only wish i knew!!! oh,and ive got high blood pressure as well.,this constant hollering isnt good for me,should i either move,or take a vacation from this zoo like atmosphere?

She's been like this for a year ever since she got the laptop. She sits in her room 24/7, she's not eating, lost alot of weight, not sleeping, not going out, not taking care of herself and worst of all she's not attending classes at the university and her marks have gone down considerably! When i talk to her, she's always somewhere else doesn't listen to what i'm saying. She won't even admit that she has a problem. Once i gave her this article to read about internet addiction, she just laughed it off and said "That's not me" I've spoken with her mother and she said she was thinking of disconnecting the internet but she was afraid that by doing that she'll drive her insane! or to do something worse! Someone plz help? I know she needs proffessional help, but how can i help when she's in denial????

My son has lived with me for three years, the first 1 of which his father had custudy. His father made out temporary gardenship contract and I signed it. After about a year of which I still sent my ex child support, I stopped the child support and so he said he would make my son go back to live with him. So we went to court and my son (then 15 yrs old) talked to the judge and told him he didnt want to move back in with his father and the judge granted me full custudy. We'll now he wants to move back in with his father, I'm still paying on a loan for my retainer and my attorney. I don't think it is nessisary to go back to court and change custudy when he could just change his mind again. I've already said he could go live with his father and I wouldnt fight it. Can I make out a contract that is legal and binding for temporaty guardianship? If so how?

I made the biggest mistakes of my life last year. In that year alone, I managed to somehow become an addict, lose my virginity to a completely jerk, lose contact with lifelong friends, and completely flunk all my classes thus getting suspended from my college for the next year.

TODAY my wonderful, beautiful, perfect older sister left to go back to college and I'm home alone feeling like a COMPLETE failure in life and just hating everything about me.

I've ruined everything I've ever stood for and I don't even know why. I'm so STUPID and right now I just wish I was anyone else but me. My dad told me last night that I am the biggest disappointment of his life. My sister tried to comfort me by the usual "things will get better" but they WON'T because the past won't go away and I'm stuck with this forever.

I just hate me right now and I am so ashamed of myself. And I live in a house where I'm constantly reminded of my mistakes and how worthless I am...

The last time I saw my brother was when I was 8. I am 25 now. He was less than a year then. I have been trying to find him for the past 5 or so years, with no luck. I have tried everything from using all the various web people search engines to find him or my step mom / dad, to calling child services to see if he is in foster care. I did a search on myspace, which said he was in tucson, AZ, BUT...he hasn't checked his myspace (if it is even him) for over a year. I am desparate to find him, but I am out of ideas. Anyone have any more ideas?

My parents have been divorced for a long time. My mother is a drug addict with custody of my little sister. At the age of 14 she kicked me out because her boyfriend was abusing me and she didn't believe it. Now 4 years later my mother has brainwashed my whole family into thinking I am the worst person on earth. No one on her side of the family will talk to me. I have lost good relationships with my brother and sister which we used to be very close. What do I do? My mom calls me all the time just to yell at me for no reason. What happens when I get married and have kids? Do I invite the family or not? I mean they didn't show up for my graduation party. Do I tell my kids that they don't have a grandmother or any other family on that side or what? This is a big issue that has been bothering me for a while. The relationship with my mother is gone there is definently no fixing it , it's that broken.

My brother is 16, He got arrested for 3 armed robberys (With Guns), Attempted Murder on 2 Child Pedos and GBH. He was sentenced a few weeks ago to 24 years in prison. My family thought he was a very good person. he was starting college and had a long term relatiosnhip with his girlfriend who is pregnant. I have 2 best friends.They both talked about this girl alyssa(name changed).They only thing i said,and it wasnt even bad.I said that she stole from this icon on myspace.THe two best friends told her and im not sure if not to tell alyssa what they said.This is not the first time it happened either.

The first time i told nicole(one of my best friends)when we were in the 7th grade how does alyssa become friends with all the 8 graders?Nicole thought i meant that im only her friend to be friends with the eigth graders.When thats not true.

Yesterday me and my boyfriend went out my mother knew I was with him and didnt have a problem my boyfriend doesnt like the fact of sending me home by myself on the bus so he stopped by his father's job to get some money to ride the bus home with me my mother called me and cursed me out and said to come home I had explained the situation to her and she still continued to curse at me now she says I cant go anywhere else with him and he cant come and see me am I wrong to have went with him he doesnt like me to travel alone on public transportation because there are weirdo's out there am I wrong

My 20 yr old step-daughter moved in with her 26 yr old boyfriend, very much against my and her mother's advice. We know we can't stop her, but we strongly reccommened against it and in no way, shape, or form support her decision. Now, she's asking for help with money and wants us to buy things for the apartment (curtains, microwave, etc.). Of course we love her to death, but how much help should we give, if any at all?

My kids have gone through a lot in the last 8 months. I have a 3 bedroom 1 1/2 bath home probably about 1200sqft. She keeps asking me to trade rooms which has a 1/2 bath. It's the master bedroom. It's only12x14 her room is 9x10. Her younger brother's room is 12x12.

I have been separated for 8 months now. I have domicile custody. Their mother decided to get a new boyfriend and start with the drugs. She is not a good mother. I thought for this question I needed to throw this in.

My daughter is 10 years old and starting to have friends come over. Sometimes sleep overs too. She is wanting more space because of her small room. And yes, She does have a lot of things.

I am considering since all I have is a bed and dresser in my room to trade with her. It is just the 3 of us. Her 6 year old brother, her and me the dad. She says we are disgusting guys and wants her own bathroom.

Would you trade your master bedroom for a smaller one to please your daughter who is growing up?
