Hi. I'm 16 years old and a few months ago, i put on a bit of weight and got a little taller, and as a result, i've been left with many stretch marks that are really visible. They're mainly around my belly button and love handles.
I'm going to a Haven holiday camp in 2 weeks, with my family and there is a swimmingpool there. I'm really worried about what they are going to think when i take off my t-shirt and they see all these stretch marks.
The kids who are going with us like to speak there mind, whatever it is, so most likely they are going to mention it.
I'm really really worried about it. I can just say ''I don't want to go swimming'' but that will most likely leed to more and more questions.
Please, i need some support!. Parents, what would you say if you're son/daughter revealed they had many stretch marks.
Thanks

Well if I was your mom, I would want you to tell me before hand so I could make sure you werent going to be uncomfy and we would go get you a tankini swimsuit or something that would make you feel better about swimming. They look bad now but they do fade quickly (the color of the marks) especially if you apply lots of cocoa butter. Have a heart to heart with a close family member and try and go shopping for a swimsuit you feel comfy in. Okay I just also just noticed your name is Jack which means your probably a guy. So the tankini wouldnt be a wise choice lol So I would still suggest talking to a parent and if anything leave a shirt on. Its very common at water parks for guys to leave their shirts on, my husband doesnt have stretch marks but he has quite a hairy chest so he usually wears a sleeveless shirt on.

just go find yourself a really cute one piece... your parents shouldn't care if you have stretch marks...dont worry about what people will say to you...be confident in yourself...however there is something called coco butter that you can use that can help reduce the sight of stretch marks...it wont work right away but you should see a difference after a little while..and i definitely wouldnt wear a t-shirt over your suit because people will see that you are trying to cover something up....it would just make things more uncomfortable

Don't swim, or wear a whole piece swimming suit. Or a T shirt over your suit. Or just go for it and tell them the truth. The truth is, there are quite a few girls that I've noticed that also some stretch marks, especially around their love handles.

Sweetie, ITS GROWTH, i am 20 and have had stretch marks for years now cause i loose weight then gain it back so if ur family knows befor u go then maybe they will let their children know not to mention it and ur family should respect u enough to know that it bothers u so they shouldn't discuss it either. tell them that when ur ready to talk about it >then u will come to them> other wise u dont want to talk about it. I'm sorry thats happened but its something that happens and u either have to except it or try to find something that helps them not be so visible like i go to the tanning bed and that seems to help alil but not alot. good luck and best wishes.

Wear a non-revealing one piece swimsuit when u go swimming to cover up the stretch marks on your trip. Putting vitamen E cream on stretch marks helps them go away.
If you want to, reveal the stretch marks to your mom (after the trip, cause u don't want those kids to spazz about it). Like casually say "do u kno what gets rid of stretch marks? i have a few on my belly after gainin a little bit of weight."
im guessin the first thing ur mom will assume is ur eating to much or ur pregnant..please ensure her that ur not.
goodluck

At your age they should get lighter and lighter as you get older. Use lots of cream on them to help. They do sell a product now just for that, so I would look into it. Talk to you parents also. I would tell you to take what ever they say as just what it is.. just talk. Ignore what they say as best you can, or bring it up first and leave them nothing to talk about. Wear a t-shirt and tell them you are very sun sensitive and don't want to burn. Just go have fun and ignore it all.

tell your mom! she cant help you if she doesn't know whats going on, and if you let her know she can probably get you something to fade them (they will never go away) but Palmer stretch mark cream works, and anything with cocoa butter will help. also the more you stay out in the sun (with sunblock) and as you start to get more tan, they will be less surprising. just tell your mom you need a new bathing suit, and get one with boy shorts and a tan-kini top. it will still be cute and you wont look like your trying to hide something.

first that happens to many girls and even some guys as they are growing up. you can try cocoa butter it will fade them but it doesnt work fast you need to continue using it for a little while.. also yoiu can try buying a bathing suit that has like a tank bikini top not the bra kind..

It is just a part of growing. I would tell my child to use lots of moisturizer, get some exercise and to not worry about it really because you cannot make them go away, you can just make them less visible.
