I have a really great family. Each loves me and my parents work really hard to earn decent wages.
The thing is Im VERY different to all of them.
... I read alot and my sister always slags me calling me boring ... My mother always says 'why dont you go outside and excercise, socialise - but she doesnt realise the only thing people my age (17) is drink and have sex . . . Not what I want.
My Dad is loud and abbrasive, he is known to my cousins as 'their crazy wild uncle' but to me, he is silly and loud ...
I just feel confined, and were going away tomorrow on a family holiday, all they want to do is lay on the beach, and then go out and drink at night.
I want to go to Museum's, sites and carnivals...
I just feel so dumb and out numbered, I feel like Im adopted sometimes....

It happens.
Doesn't necessarily mean you're adopted.
If you can during this vacation (and in general), just do as you like.
Soon, you'll be out on your own and won't get the constant criticism.
Oh, and when your mom tells you to go outside, there's nothing stopping you from taking your book and finding a nice, quiet place to read.

God, thats hard. Your family is just different than you. They sound like my family. We are all just typical italians, you know, we love to laugh and eat together and the parents are always drinking. Bring some books [or magz] for the beach. At night [since you CAN drive yourself] ask if anyone wants to go out w. you. Go were you wanna go and if you have to compromize [like go to Ripley's even though you'd rather be at the Met] i hope you enjoy your'se vacation. have a great summer If your ever in the city look up Monetti

You sound like the only one with common sense to me. It is not a sin to want to go to museums and do other fun things like going to the carnival. Life is more than just drinking and smoking and having sex. What does your mom want you to do, go out and sex your life away. Pay them no mind, because unfortunately one day they will need you for help because of all the crazy things they did while you were using your brain.

hi... everyone is different, and that is what makes the world go around.
it's nice that you are doing what makes YOU happy now.
let your family know this... when your mother says "go out and socialize" you might think about telling her what you said here -- all kids my age do things i'm not interested in, like drinking and having sex.....
when you go on vacation, can't you get away and go to the museum or whatever? ask if you can do that as a family?
they won't know how you feel unless you let them know...

why cant you do that......why cant you go to a museum or what ever....let them go lay on the beach and party if that's what they want.......you can still enjoy your holiday.....its what ever you make of it....stop being so negative about things ...enjoy it while you can.....
