Convince your dad or your mom to buy you a pre-paid phone and ask your dad for money so you can just buy phone cards. I think you need a phone in case of an emergency. At least you can't run up minutes on your phone and end up with a huge bill. This way, you can only make emergency calls, and calls to your parents. The cards that you purchase have a certain amount of talk time.

If your old enough get a job or try babysitting to earn money and offer to pay half of the bill that would make you learn responsibility.

Why doesn't your mom buy you a phone? And don't you have a house phone? Or why doesn't your mom get her own phone? Or why don't you get a prepaid phone? Or can't you just use a house phone?

well if you can show him she wont' get it then try and talk to him i have no idea how old your are but there are rules with cell phones. no roaming and no long distance and then you can call anyone only after certain hurs tell him you will obey his rules and see.

try to make a deal with your dad. tell him you will do extra chores around the house to help with the bill. this will help your dad see that you are willing to work for your phone.

Your dad's excuse is childish. Probably he thinks that you are too young to have a cellphone.
