A few years ago my sister-n-law, lost custody of her 6 children.
Yes, you could call her trailer trash, but still, she's family. As you may probably already know, most of these children have different fathers (or no fathers).
The two oldest were living with their father and his new wife, and were having a very difficult time. So much so, that he brought them to me to care for.
I treated them like my own children ( i have 4 of my own). They loved me just as my own do.
But there is no greater love than the love you have for your own mother. We felt sorry for her (my husbands sister). We knew that losing her kids was hard.
After some time (3yrs), and phone conversations, the father decided to let them visit their mother, then finally live with her again(against the court order).
11/2yrs later, the kids are put through the same thing again. But now that the oldest wants to come back, the mother is jealous and angry at me. What do I do?

I am a junior in highschool and im 15 years old. My mom is considering letting get my belly button pierced since i do so well in school and at home with my choirs and stuff. But then again i dont want her to change her mind and say no. so i was thinkin about writing her a letter telling her why i should get one. and i want to explain to her that i know the consequences of getting it pierced and everything else. Im asking could anyone give me some very persuasive things to say that can probably persuade her to let me get it.

My daughter wants black bras and panties- not the fancy lacy stuff, just plain cotton. But it seems too grown up to me. Any opinions?

I checked our local library's website for story hour. They had a weekly program all winter long that ends March 2nd. I may take her to the last one, at 9:00a.m.; however, I work until 1:00 the night before so we'll see. I also checked our Health and Wellness Center for play groups. All that they have is sports activities for kids starting at age 5. I'm hoping to find something for kids her age to interact as well as their Mommy's. I'm also looking for low-cost or free ideas preferably in the afternoon after her nap due to my work schedule. Any suggestions?

Our parents are living longer. With proper medical care, it is not unusual for one or both to live well into their nineties. This can leave a surviving spouse living alone, faced with lower income, while still trying to maintain their home and way of life. Trips to church, grocery shopping and doctor appointments become difficult. House chores like cooking, paying bills, doing laundry and yard work become challenges. Even personal hygiene can pose risks of bathtub falls or scalding. There are many assisted living options out there but most of the elderly don't trust institutions after hearing horror stories of abuse from staff and abandonment by family.

How willing are you to see that your parent is protected, comfortable and supported in their declining years? Do you feel it is your responsibility or is it up to a relative or sibling? Should you contribute financially to them if they need it?

After finding out that my 15 year old daughter is promiscuous I am ata quandry about exactly what to do. Because she is my step daughter I have limited authority. My husband just gets really mad and hurt when this subject is brought up and her mother just seems to yell alot and then take her shopping. I wan to know what I should do that would be truly helpful. When I've brought up the subject with her before she just denies everything but I know it's true. I read her myspace messages. She is very bold and tells guys she will do favors if they come to visit. I know this is a self esteem issue and I consider myself pretty smart and understanding but when it's you own kid....it's really hard to fugure out the right path. If I had control over the situation, she would just not be allowed to go anywhere or be anywhere without supervision. But I don't have that authority. I also don't want to just tell her no and not get a better understanding of why this is happening. Any real insight?

My father is nearing 80 and is retired in an expensive Florida home. On a recent visit he took me aside and told me he'd left evrything to his current wife. I was so shocked and dumb-founded I didn't say a word. I'm back home now but I'm wondering if I should I bring it up again?

My sister in law helped me with my baby shower. She was the one who did the games. My mom threw the shower for me. my mom Paid for pretty much everything. My sister in law started telling her what to do. She was very bossy. She started complaining to some of my family about how she put out 150 dollars for my shower which is not true. She made a blanket for the baby and just bought a few things for the tray game. She is now telling her whole family that she threw the baby shower put out alot of money and that I didnt even appreciate it. I told her thank you at the shower and sent out a card. Then for christmas she made a big deal about how much she paid for the outfit she bought for my daughter. She wants to help me throw my daughter her first birthday party. I don't need or want her help. How should I handle this how situation.
