I got custody of my two kids when I divorced their mother in 2003 while she was in jail. She has been in and out of jail every year since then, on probation violations that has to do with drugs and alcohol. She wants custody of them when the kids turn twelve. When they can decide who they want to live with. My daughter wants to live with her mom now. Should I give them to her or fight for them? I don't trust her and she does see them everyother weekend.

My father has terminal cancer and is is very bad shape now. It would be impossible for me to go see him before he died AND his funeral which might not be for a month or so. Lotsw of relatives are puring in now so he has plenty of support. But I was his first son. What should I do?

I was never married to my son's father and he has paid maybe a total of $600 over the past 9 years. He's been in and out of rehab this ENTIRE time with a crack and heroin addiction which he acquired after I gave birth. When he was clean I allowed him to see my son but he was careless and clueless. I paid for a visit to his state so he could see and all pictures sent to him. I gave him ample opportunities to shape up (7 years) and now I'm fed up. My son is now 9 and the dad has only been clean for 2 mths and expects visitation. His emails to me are distorted and senseless as if he's got real mental issues. I do not want him influencing my son at all. My son is sweet, has a beautiful home, great school, plays basketball and has a loving family. How can an absent worthless father with emotional and drug problems be allowed in a child's life? I live in Texas.. does the father have a chance?

California child support and medical coverage?
My son is on Medi-Cal Blue Cross coverage. *knock on wood* My son hasn't been sick at all. He is 10 months and we are breastfeeding and shooting for 1 yr. Anyways, point being.....we are not on any kind of public assistance or cash aid or food stamps. I only have medi-cal for both of us for medical reasons and expense. So child support enforcement is trying to locate the father to put our son on his heath insurance. He has Blue Shield of California. Now if the father doesn't give this info to child support enforcement what does that mean? What happens?

My parents let my 25 almost 26 year old brother live at home rent free. He never has had a real job, and my mom does all of his laundry and things like that. Every pay check that he does receive, he spends on electronics and other things that he wants. I have confronted my parents on this in the past, and they always just shrug whatever I say off. They say they are letting him decide what he wants to do with his life. He is a musician (not a bad one but professional level) and expects stuff to just fall at his feet. He doesn't want to start at the bottom and work his way up. He wants to go ahead and start at the top. My worry is that he lives with my parents forever and then when they pass away, I will have to kick him out into the street on his own because I am definitely not going to care for him. Any suggestions or similar experiences?

My boyfriend's daughters mom got kicked out of her house and now we are keeping his daughter in our house(fine with me she is great) Can I type up a letter stating that she grants him temporary custody of the daughter until further notice? I just want him to be able to take her to the doctor and everything and if she tries to come back and want back child support (it is not court ordered) she cannot have it for the time that we have her. We are paying her daycare and insurance right now as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

she sms'd me at 4am 6 hours before i was due in traffic court..."it is up to u.Police will come 2 aarrest u nd deal with ualone..Ua friends will bail u out. I am a single mother of 2 girls, 12 and 6.My oldest daughter has just told me that she use to cut herself and now she does it sometimes.her dad acts like its not serious.We live in nm and she is failing school and I can't work because I am trying to be there for her and her sister,and I don't have a babysiter.We want to move somewhere away from her father and someplace that I can afford to live and not a big city.I told her that jobs are hard right now,but she hates the living situation right now.Did I tell you that we live with her father(my ex).He won't help with the babysitting because my youngest is not his child.I need some advise(serious only).I am worried that if we don't relocate she will fail school and continue hurting herself.

i am in a custody battle with the father of my child. she spends 5 days a month with him and 25 days a month with me. what is the percentage of time per month my childs spends with her father? and how do you calculate that, because i couldnt figure it out!

ok please help. my mom has been single since i was 1 year old. everytime she gets a date or boyfriend, she and i end up moving in with him right away. it's really bugging me. they all have been jerks. all they care about it her and not me. and when they brake up, we end up moving and moving to different states. i am now only 13 and i've moved about 15 times. it's really hard to make friends. when i tell her these problems, she doesn't have time to talk. when we go to places to eat, we don't talk either, she calls her friends and talks forever. and when i don't have anyone to talk to, and i call my friends and talk for 15 mins. she yells at me for the bills. she always blames me for things that she does. she says that i'm stupid and that i don't love her. and the only thing that i care about is money. is spoils me to get rid of me. we never have quality time together. when she comes home from work (8:30pm) i ask if she wanted to go to the movies with me. she says no i'm to tried. HELP!

I'm way past due! I'm 21 and still live at home...for several reasons, the main one being financial instability. I'm a nursing student so I don't have the time to work at a job where I can make enough money to pay rent, utilities, food, car payment, insurance, etc. so I still live here. I can't wait until May of 2008 so I can finally leave and let them have their alone time. I guess it's not that bad though, I've heard of people in their 30's still living at home. At least I do my own laundry...

My fiance and I have been dating for almost 2 years. My mother claims that she likes him but he has been saying since he met her he has a feeling that she didn't like him. On Christmas he proposed to me, all of my family was happy for us but she seemed as though she doesn't care too much. She always wants him to come to around but she talks crap about him behind his back, and he doesn't want to around her because he feels as though she's faking like she likes him. Every since we moved in together last year, she has been trying to get me to move back in with her. She's not realizing that when she left us, 10 years ago, to be with her man she put a strain on our relationship. Now he doesn't know if he wants to be with me beacuse he feels that my mother will try anything to break us up. She does things like tell lies about him. He has never been abusive, mentally or physically. It's tearing me up emotionally. I don't want to choose between my mother and fiance but what should I do?

never saw a birth certificate
mother never told man she was pregnant; man gets slapped with a paternity suit almost 2 years later.
Could the DNA test have been falsified?
Can't even find the mother or the multiple bastard children.

I announced my engagement & wedding to my family last weekend and received no support or congratulations from them. We are getting married this September in my fiance's hometown which would be a 10-hour drive or 2-hour flight for my family. One of my sisters has indicated that she will not attend because she has more important plans. My other sister has asked me to change the date & location to better suit her family's schedule. My mother will do whatever my sisters tell her to do. I want them there because they are my family but I don't want them to ruin my wedding day. If they don't come, I think this is the straw that breaks the camel's back. We don't have a good relationship anyway and this is very hurtful to me.

Should I insist they attend, knowing they will spoil the happiness of my wedding? Should I just let it go and see what they decide as the date gets closer? Or should I confront them about my feelings and possibly not speak to them again? Any help & advice is appreciated

My aunt and my sister are 19 and they were best friends but they drove apart cause my aunt knew that my sister cheated her current boyfriend.My sister is telling a lot of bad things about Z(my aunt).Z is a little ,not fat,but in between and my sister is telling every1 that Z is fat and that she lokes a 100 times better and that anoys me cause my aunt is the most interesting person I ever met!And she is beaitiful! My sister told me that she doesn't understand how can any1 like her and be married to her(Z got married 2 days ago!).She thinks that her husband is a loser-but they are both nice.I like her better than my sis!

When my father remarried a woman my family deemed a fortune hunter- they cut him out of the will to get our families ancestral home. Their belief was that she had two young children( with whom my father ultimately adopted) and if he died suddenly- the home would go to her- then to her children- Not me. Therefore the home is going to be handed down to my aunt.

I am trying to get an handle on this because by cutting him out- they are cutting me out of the ownership- and when I approached them on this- they told me my dad said he wouldnt cut out his wife or 2 adoptive children. SO they thought it better to do what they did vs. having me war with my stepmother- who I also believe is a fortune hunter.

How do I get on grip on losing the only home I ever knew growing up and knowing my children will never be a part of it. It means a great deal to me both mentally and historically.

today my son told me that my mother took his allowance he had saved, about 60 dollars. He said she took it to pay the water bill that had been not payed for 3 months!
She is 65 years old and my husband and I moved in and took over paying all the bills and house payments.
I asked my husband about the water bill not being payed, and he told me, and showed me all the reciepts! Nothing has even been paid late! Everything is all payed on time, and we have been supporting her ever since my father passed away 8 years ago.
She is not an invalid, and could get a part time job at least, but
she pays nothing at all! My father had insurance so she gets alot of money from that, and monthly money from the government because my dad was in the army for a very long time. She gets survivor benefits also,but still tells my son to give her money, but not to tell me or my husband about it. My son is a child! He saved up his money so that he could buy what he wants. Do you think this is fair?!

I have an Uncle that says mean and hateful things when he is drunk. He makes rude comments about my weight, my friends, other family members. For example, last night he came over to my house after he had been drinking and in not so many words told me that I needed to loose weight. Yeah I probably need to but you just don't say stuff like that to someone. I am not sure if he remembers what he says or not. What do you think? How should I handle this?

Have you ever attempted to adopt a child outside of your own race? Were you encouraged to do it or encouraged to find a child that would "best fit in " your own environment? Did you end up adopting the child of your choice or one they chose for you?

(This is for same country adoptions- such as a white couple adopting a Hispanic Child or African American family adopting a white child)

I just came from a seminar and an adoption agency said that they encouraged families to adopt within their own race- "for the good of the child".

What is your experience and how did you deal with it?

ok...my last question looked wrong. But the MOTHER of this poor child is a crack addict-for 19 years. Been arrested, in and out of rehab, total loser. We tried for cutody and $5000 later we were told that since the child wants to stay with her, that is what they are going with.
Since that court date, she is back on drugs, has ben arrested and now we believe that she is using now.
The child basically is at the grandparents all the time who we are not on good terms with since we took them to court. The grandmother is a "proud" alcoholic-she doesn't hide it. In fact, they just got a dog and named it "Stoli".
This crack head has tried to harass me by calling CPS on me saying that I drink wine and an drunk around the kid. (Me and my husband sometimes have a glass of wine with dinner and the kid is the type to go to the mother with exaggerated info) CPS immeadiately saw that it was just harassment and dismissed it. That's just the beginning. Nightmare! Can anyone relate?

My husband has a 3 year old daughter, we have been together even before she was born, her mother and father were never together, the first 2 years of her life we only were allowed to see her whenever her mother felt like it, which was alot sometimes, and then it dwindelled down to never, we didnt get to see her for about 8 months and his daughter didnt even remember us...anyways we finally got a lawyer and for the past year we have got her everyother weekend and every tuesday plus holidays and things like that...but it took her forever to get warmed up to her father...she still isnt as close to him as she is to me and my husband gets jelous which i understand I want her to be closer to him than me, but how? sometimes i am with her more than he is bc he has to work but theres no way around that we all like to spend family time together and we go to the zoo and chucky cheese and things like that but we want him and her to have a closer relationship what should we do,?!?

She insists I go on vacation in the spring since in the summer I will have to work with the mentally disabled which is very hard work. She is even offering to pay me as long as I go.
