I'm way past due! I'm 21 and still live at home...for several reasons, the main one being financial instability. I'm a nursing student so I don't have the time to work at a job where I can make enough money to pay rent, utilities, food, car payment, insurance, etc. so I still live here. I can't wait until May of 2008 so I can finally leave and let them have their alone time. I guess it's not that bad though, I've heard of people in their 30's still living at home. At least I do my own laundry...

I moved out when I was 17. I wasn't in school at the time though. I too am a nursing student now (graduate in Aug!!) so I completely understand the financial part of it. Fortunately I'm married so he works. Stay at home till you get a nursing job!! It is so hard to pay bills right now & like I said my husband works. There's no way you could pay bills unless you work full time or get a big student loan. Save yourself the debt.

We all have different emotional and financial needs. I see absolutely nothing wrong with living with your parents at 21, especially if you are a nursing student. I have several girlfriends in their late twenties who are doing so because of a heavy work load, or school, or simply because it is a money saving tool for the future. Why put rent into a place you will never own? America is one of the few countries where more than one generation doesn't live in the same household and folks think it odd. And no, this is not simply a factor of economics. Middle and upper middle class families live together in several European and many Eastern European countries. If you are uncomfortable living at home, it sounds like more of an emotional issue with which you're struggling rather than any other. Moving away from home will not likely make you any more comfortable with yourself if you aren't already.

The day after I graduated high school. However, I did move back home briefly after I graduated college for the same reasons as you, just to save some money until I got a job that made ends meet. I was home for about a year before I moved out on my own. If your parents are cool with it, not only is there no reason not to, but I think financially it's very smart!

I was 19 and moved out. Graduated HS in May and moved out in July. It was the best thing i ever did. This was yrs ago but i went into the Marines got a responsible bone in my body, learned the value of a dollar and went on with life and now i have my own home with my 3 dogs. Money is tight at times but i know the value of it and get 'more bang for my buck' with shopping.

To be 21 and living at home, no sweat. Your parents allow and you have a good relationship with them. just dont overextend your stay. Finish school, get a good job and be happy with what you have.

I moved out just before I turned 18. This was along time ago however, and I understand that it is hard for young people to make it on their own now. I got a job and moved in with some friends. It was a wild time and I probably should have stayed at home and gone to college, but I'm glad I did what I did!

I was 24, I waited a little bit because I saved up a enough to put a down payment on a small row home. It's completely sicken to hear about people living at home in their 30's..... most of them due it cause they are lazy or can't live in a fancy house or apartment so they rather live at home. I am getting my master for teaching at night and almost everyone in my class is a teacher around 23-30.... almost all of them live at home!!! I was shocked. One of the girls is complete dressed and burberry, coach and tiffany's and was bitchen about how she can't afford an apartment!! Most of them made the same comments- like if they couldn't have the best, they weren't moving.

I guess I'm bad because I'm 24 and I still live at home. I don't feel like I'm ready to live on my own yet. My dad still does my laundry and I really don't have to do that much stuff around the house. I have a job that's right down the street from my house so it's good to live here. I do want to move out at one point but not till I know I'll be okay on my own

I'm 20 and I moved out of my parents' house last May (right after I turned 20) to live with my boyfriend. In some ways it was a good idea (I get to see my boyfriend everyday, I've learned how to balance wants and needs and the value of a dollar, lol) but I was also hesitant on doing it because me and my mother are very close and I didn't want to leave her! Don't do it just because of your age. Make sure you're financially able, research where you want to live (there are sites you can go to online that tell you how many criminals and/or people with previous criminal offenses, such a rape and/or child molestation, are living within so many miles of a certain area), and if you move into an apartment that lets you choose between upstairs and downstairs, get one upstairs because the people who live above me and my boyfriend are a little overweight with two overweight kids and all we hear is "bang! bang! bang!" above our heads when they walk/run. Good luck in your decision! :-D

i am almost 23 and am still liven at home. I think rentin a apt was a dumb idea. i looked into buyin a house because you get most the "rent" back when you sell the house. I should be out on my own in 2 weeks! work for what you want and better yourself in the future, it don't matter where you live!

If you're 21 and still living at home and going to school so that you can make it on your on, that cool. Keep working hard and get out when you can.

If you're not going to school and just a loser and can't make it without your parents help..... the answer is you should have moved out yesterday!
