make my mother see that I'm being responsible by getting put on birth control?

2006-11-26 09:57:05 · 12 answers · asked by Anonymous

I am an adult and have had to move back in with my parents temporarily. They go to social outings to friend's houses. For example, they went to some friend's house for Thanksgiving. I was also invited.

I chose not to go. My mom asked me to go, but I said no. I generally feel uncomfortable because I am the only one that is alone (without a partner) and without anything positive to talk about. My child does not live with me (lives in another state with her Dad) and I have just started a new job that I do not like.

Should my parents have forced me to attend the Thanksgiving dinner with them? I felt sad being home alone. I went to bed at 8 a.m. and cried all the way home and myself to sleep.

My memories of Thanksgiving are terrible. I don't know what the right thing to do would have been.

I don't think so, but I've been hearing things from my parents re: this. Just because one parent makes more $$ and a newer house should that make any difference? I don't think a minor can make such a decision until perhaps they reach 18 yrs. Does anyone know for sure??

I have 2 stepdaughters and a son - and I find it hard to be their main disciplinarian... not because my husband does not let me, but because I keep thinking I would hate to see my son in those shoes...
My stepdaughters are great girls, we get along great, and I do teach them right from wrong... but when more serious things happen, I go to my husband... and he does the same when it comes to my son...
We do not spank - so you know - so that problem does not exist...
I have been criticized because of my position a few times, but I do not feel that I should change if it works for us...
If my husband were to die and the kids were to stay with me, it would be different... but with their father around, I think we should discuss all matters together (as we do) and apply the actions on our own kids.

My cousin (11 years old and male) wanted to see if he could set a record. He wants to see if he could set the record of having your feet tickled for the longest time. I told him he can't, because of the fact that someone who is not ticklish could say they are and last forever having their feet tickled. He refuses to admit he is wrong, but I do give it to him, he has really ticklish feet and can last a while. I can't even touch his socked feet without him giggling. He had his sister tickle his feet (with him wrapped in a blanket with his socked feet sticking out of one end) for 5 minutes and 32 seconds and he was in complete hysterics, his eyes were watering. I just want to know if the public can tell me how long their kids, cousins, or brothers can last having their feet tickled and how ticklish they are. Just to see where my cousin is at (Even though I still think its a pointless record) I WILL GIVE 10PTS TO ANSWER WITH GOOD OPINION AND PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH TICKLING KIDS

My boyfriends mom is a total B$%^ and I cant believe her she treats me like crap all the time because I told him about his mother talking badly about me to one of my friends. He went and well told her off for it. and now she is treating me even worse. She has never liked me and then when I got pregnant she got worse. And then she treats him horribly, screams and haulers at him, tells him he's not gonna get very far in life. Is there something I should do? Im no kiss ***. I just want to make it a little easier for him and her to get along. He is even afraid that she will kick him out. Its getting to the point where Im afraid that she is going to take it out on my baby. And I dont want my baby to be around that much haustility. Anyways Please I need advice on what to do with all this. Should I just leave it alone or so something about it?

Future mother in law has always disrespected her son. She knew his step father was abusing him, but she made my bf out to be a liar to everyone back then. Today, she is the most manipulative and controlling woman I know! Since she has never given him respect, she NOW disrespects the whole family. He has complained to her about it. She kept doing it. So I wrote her a long and PoLiTe letter. I didnt say one mean word to her in the last two years or the letter. I asked her to please respect our decisions as parents and brought up boundary lines, and to please explain her side, so we could understand her. She wouldnt write back. Now she is telling everyone she is afraid to come over and see her four month old grand daughter, because she fears what I might do to her. AS IF! One example: At my boyfriends mothers birthday party, We said to her we did not want anyone who had been drinking to hold our baby. What does she do? She passes my baby to her uncle, who was clearly drunk! what to do?

My mother is a sociopath and only believes what she says, how do I overcome that? She made money from my daughters death after refusing to pay for the cardboard box to cremate her in. And she is wealthy! It was their gun, and they yelled at her right before it happened. He is a doctor and she is a therypist. And she has told me that it is none of my buisness what they do with their money, or how they got it! I havent spoken to her for over 5 years, since my daughters funeral (when I walked in on my step father working on my daughters life Ins. policy at her funeral). It has also affected my relationship with the rest of her family. They seem to forget the iron, telephone, and cast iron skillet she beat me with as a child. Why do they forget that? They saw it? Why do they not hold her accountable, instead they blame me? Tell me I need to fix this because she is getting old.It is because she has money isnt it? Sad but true...Any advice would be greatly appriciated.

OK - my siter in law died 6 months ago from cancer, and now my mother in law (who has been divorced and bitter for over 20 yrs.) is trying to act like my brother in laws wife and mother of his 2 daughters. She's his mom, my husband's brother. He and I are closer b/c I was extremely close to his wife who passed away and he has told both the mo in law and I that she needs to back off a little bit. I tried talking to my mo in law and she just kept saying, "It's been 6 months since she died. He needs to move on. I am prepared to move closer to him (they live over 400 miles apart right now), to help raise those girls." Of course he appreciates the help, but it's over kill. Butt out or speak my mind?

who has always been very controlling. She used mind gamnes on my father who died ten years ago and has always tried the same with me. She has a cruel tongue in her head and is responsible for me suffering low self esteem. Comments like I am a fool, compares me to opther daughters of other people in complex she lives on unfavourably etc etc. This morning I suffered yet another mental bashing.....I was told I don't come to see her enough when have been four times this last week.....pointed this out......got told it was only short visits....average was one hour.......I actually feel like she is making me mentally ill. I am standing up to her.....but the guilt comes home to roost. I was an only child and an adopted child. Seems to me like I have to always be aware of pay back .......I never measured up...was not clever enough, pretty enough......yet she wants to control and when she does not get her own way is vile in her verbal attacks. she is now 92
