I wanted to go to an independent study high school and do college on the side. I also wanted to get a job. My parents told me this was a stupid idea and I could do it all while going to a regular high school. I told them that would be too much work and I would fail almost every class. They won't give it a change. Is it really fair on my part? Remind you all that going to college while in high school means its free.

I hope everyone had a safe but nice holiday weekend. Anyone care to share what they did?
We had a community dinner (BBQ) with all our neighbors. The whole community gets together and dances, talks and just has a lot of fun. Everyone brings a covered dish and there is so much food that you feel like your going to explode from eating so much. We usually have these dinners about 6 times a year and everyone enjoys them so much. Especially all the kids. I live out in the country and everyone out here is so nice and friendly.
Then after that, me, my little girl and my mom went shopping to hit the sales.......lol

I work extremely hard at my job and provide a good living for my wife and my child. However, in doing this, there are times when I have to put in a 12-14 hour day for a week or two at a time. Of course, my wife is not happy with it. I end up working an average of 50 hours a week year-round and sometimes it is closer to 60-65.

I think I am doing what is best for the family. Am I unreasonable? Honest advice is appreciated.

my niece seems jealous and obsessed of my daughter, yet at the same time, seems to depise her. my sister and i are very close and this is causing alot of problems. i decided to disassociate with them, as my daughter has dealt with this since my niece was 2. my daughter can be sarcastic, but i don't think pinching is an age appropriate response. my sister does punish her, but she doesn't stop.

I have been reading posts here and on several other sites. I have noticed something interesting that seems to be consistant with all the sites. There seem to be a large number of people who prefer to respond to questions in a way that could be characterized as cruel or mean or generally hurtful. My question is why? What is it about us that has us choose to write something that tears people down rather than lifting them up? The spirt of what has been created by these sites is positive, and it seems that the people who post on them have the same desire - to derive something positive from the responses. I am saddend by some peoples' choice to meet those desires with comments designed to hurt rather than help.

Okay, there is this girl that was friends with my girlfriend (until I forbid her from hanging out with her) that keeps calling my girlfriend and trying to get her to break things off with me. She's pissed at me for making my girlfriend drop out of school and for telling her what clothes to wear, what not to watch on tv, etc. What she doesn't understand is that it is my right as her boyfriend to control her but not her right. Anyways, my girlfriend isn't allowed to call this girl but her friend keeps calling her. I'm thinking about disconnecting her phone and getting a new phone number but i'm not sure if that would mean a new contract. She still has about 4 months left on it (cell phone). However, even if I did, I think this wicked lady would come visit her at her apartment. This is one of those girls who doesn't believe in patriachy or male sovereignity so you probably know what I'm talking about. What do you think I should do about this?

My boyfriend has FORBIDDEN me to take our son to visit his mother . His stepfather has moved back into the house after leaving his mother while she had a life threatening illness ,among helping her lose her house, and turn her on to drugs, and messing around w other women he resents his stepfather. My b/f has not been very open with me of details of him and the stepfathers relationship, but just forbids me to take our son to see he. We saw his mom on the street last week and he drove off when she looked our way. His mother calls daily and he refuses to speak with her. I spoke w/ her and she has requested for me to bring my son and her dog (which we now have) b/c she missed them and wants to visit w/ them. Am I wrong to go behind his back and take the dog and our son to see her? His mother is 66 and has no car. My son is two and can speak well enough to say grandma. I don't want more drama but I believe my b/f is being an ***, what would you do?

I love my big sister in the whole world, and I have looked up to her and copied whatever she has done ever since I can remember. But recently, she decided to join the army. Does that mean I should also just to follow her footsteps? I admire her so much...shes the best big sister ever and I love her, but I don't know about this decision.

Serious answers only please.

Call you or someone you know a retard? My cousin has rett syndrome. She cannot eat on her own, talk, walk, or anything else for that matter. She has recently started siezing daily. Now, she is only 8. Does she deserve this? Depending on my mood, sometimes it will really offend me if people say someone is retarded.

My ex passed ehight years ago and I found out three months ago. Now the thing os this I was told id was either accidental or suicidal tha doesn't help much when it comes to closure. Ever since I found out my heart has been heavywith a wholelot of guilt. I dumped him over a stupid jealousy issue that could've been worked out. He was in germany serving in the army at that particular time. I saw him three years later and the thing is that he never wrote me or tried to find me when he came for visit. I fugured if he cared enough he would try to locate me and try toget some answers. Well when he cam back he wanted to know if I was seeing someone else ans I was so I told him the truth. He ws super heated. I don't get it how could he possibly me angry at me when he never even tried to look for me at that time. For me it was over , but for him I guess it wasn't. The last time I sawhim this was like a few days after the confrontation. Youcould see it on his face that he was hurt.

I have a potty trained 4 year old who has pooped her pants four times in the last 5 days. Twice in the last 24 hours. I don't know what to do! She just started a new school a week ago, so I thought maybe it was anxiety over that. However, she LOVES her new school and seems to be making friends easily. I don't know what to do, please help! Any suggestions?

I'm 26 yrs old and live at their house with my daughter because I am finishing up a Master's degree and can't afford to be out even though I desperately want to (my job pays for my school). My daughter's father left us long ago and so it's really been hard. The problem is I'm all stressed out living at my mother's house. I get talked down to too much and can't take it. We don't have an appropriate relationship because she sees me as a child still and they want total control. I feel like we never get along and I don't want to feel that way. I've tried approaching her with the way I feel but it does no use. How can I make our relationship better?

Personally, I want to wait to have kids until I am married and have a job. I think the earliest age you should be is 25. At least 20. The oldest age I think would have to be a bit before or after age 35. I would think that if you were older with a 10yr. old kid you may run out of energy fast. Don't get me wrong I'm sure there are plenty of people that are in there 40-50's with plenty of energy. So I think you should between the ages of 25 and 35.

Ok Here is the scenerio

1. You are 31 years old with a wife/husband and 2 kids

2. Your mom is going to to die from cancer in the next few years she is 50.

So knowing that one day you decide to go hiking in a rocky area with many cliffs for a joyful afternoon.

Suddenly you find yourself falling down a cliff side and in your last chance to save yourself from the deadly fall you grab a ledge and hold on. Minutes pass and your strength is wearing thin in your last moments you scream out, "Please anyone HELP ME!"

Seconds later a shadow appears and tells you this.

1. Your chances of surving the fall without my help are 5% and with it they are 85%.

2. However he tells you there is a 88% chance he can save your mother from cancer and she will live for 40 more years but and only a 30% chance your life will be saved from the fall.

What do you do?

What do you do?
