I'm not even going to read the other answers. If you are serious about this, what in the phuk are you waiting for, a personal invitation? Get that child to the hospital NOW!
Have her checked out. Be right there beside her to comfort her. If infact the Doctor determines that she has been molested the authorities will have already have been notified. Someone must be held accountable. If molestation isn't suspected then there must be a reason for the blood and pain. Whatever it is just GET IT DONE.

Nobody on here should know how big a 5 year olds vagina should be, Even doctors don't check out 5 year olds vaginas unless there is a problem. Take her to a doctor and get her talking about what happened.

You better get her to the doctor, because even if she hasn't been touched a serious injury could have occured. It is possible for a hymen to tear due to an injury such as a bicycle accident or fall. Bleeding and pain in that area for a 5 year old is defintely a red flag. Get off the internet and get that kid to the ER.

There is no 'size' for her vagina to be. All famales bodies are different. Bring her to the doctor asap!!! They will be able to tell is something has happened. But, it could also be a urinary tract infection. Happened to me when my little girl was 6....she was screaming that it hurt and she couldnt even use the restroom. I rushed her to the ER and threw a fit for them to find out what was wrong with her and it turned out to be a UTI....But I figured, better safe than sorry. Good luck.

take her to the doctor...or considering the time of day it is take her to the emergency room. The doctors at the ER will make her a priority if they believe she may have been "touched" and you won't have to wait very long at all. Also, if it does turn out to be that way, the police will be immediately notified. The hospital ER has appearance dealing with these types of situations. PLEASE get her checked out ASAP!!!

Your question is not appropriate to the situation. The size of a child's vagina is irrevelent. You should immediately take her to an emergency room and insist that a female be present when she is examined. If there is any doubt, the police should be called at once.
Don't waste time on Yahoo Answers with this!

Just because she has irritation/bleeding doesn't necessarily mean she's been abused, though. She could have any number of problems. One that comes to mind is a fused labia. Regardless, SHE NEEDS TO BE SEEN BY A DOCTOR.

I know it can be a tough situation since you are her step mother and not her biological mother. There are boundaries that you're probably worried about here. May I suggest in the future turning to www.stepfamily.asn.au ? It's a GREAT site full of parents and step parents who really care.

Good Luck!
