I know ancestry.com has a 14 day trial effort, but check with some of your relatives and then visit through the webs local historical society's pages for any information. I found those local society's have web sites and you can trace back that way - good luck.

Go to free sites!! Cindi's list. Mormon list. L-list. roots web. Get on free mailing list form the counties where your people are from. Contact the people that are in your family that have an interest in genealogy. Family Tree site. Post things. The very best way, search for people that have already did what you are trying. You think there is no one, but they are out there. It will take time. Search names that your on free data groups.

most public libraries and community colleges have mini-courses on geneaology. try out this venue. it could turn into a hobby, and benefit your whole family. you may like being the family "expert".

How about talking to them? Like your parents, and their parents, etc... they can be a wealth of information.
