Don't let her have access to the kid ssn's when you by school clothes and medicine and pay for day care you can get money back on your taxes. If she's that sneaky she might be helping the dad with trying to claim them. Just a guess, tax season is a while away.

I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt, and you an edge.
PHOTOCOPY the receipts, take her the copies, and see if she just wants to be nice and pay for part. That way you still have the originals, tell her you need those for your taxes.
My mother was weird that way (rest in peace, Mom) Every once in a while she got to feeling guilty about not doing anything for the grandkids and just popped up out of nowhere with some money for a strange purchase, not birthdays or anything normal.

She has no right to the reciepts if you bought the clothes, she could want the reciepts so if you take the father to court for back support she can say that she or the father bought the back to school clothes.....I would be very careful around her if I were you. I'am a mother-in-law and I would never do such a thing.

I don't know, make copies and give her the copies and keep the originals. Would she be trying to get custody, or help her son out? She may be obtaining the reciepts to show proof to the court that her son bought something if he gave you money he thought was being used for that purpose. The court will not recognize anyhting like that anyway, its considered a gift anyway. Do like I say, give her copies and keep the originals, make a note on he copy as a copy. Do not worry if she questions you, hell she is asking you to do something strange too. I would tell her I need them to submit to XYZ... so I cannot give them to her. If she insist make her copies.

I answered your question before and with these new details all I can say is tell her the truth. Just ask her why she wants it and then tell her you are uncomfortable giving them to her. You never know if she will give them to the dead beat dad so he can lie and say: "Look, I didn't pay child support, I bought this school stuff for my kids instead."

that does seem tricky if the son never helps put or pays child support she might want them so that if you go to court she can have something and claim like they are the ones buying them things. I don't see why she would want them but if you give them to her only give her copies.

Don't give her the receipts. She didn't pay for the items so why
should she have the papers? How much you paid for them is
also none of her business.

i don't trust my mother in law..you bought the stuff, don't give her the receipt, cause if he's suspose to buy child support, than he can take that receipt up their and that will count towards alittle child support.... my mother in law would... don't trust her, she's up to something........

Possibly for taxes.....but I am not sure. You should ask a tax professional. I cannot think of any other reason to ask for your reciepts.
