I have a potty trained 4 year old who has pooped her pants four times in the last 5 days. Twice in the last 24 hours. I don't know what to do! She just started a new school a week ago, so I thought maybe it was anxiety over that. However, she LOVES her new school and seems to be making friends easily. I don't know what to do, please help! Any suggestions?

I hate to say it but there is little you can do about it. It is a control issue. Once a child is potty trained they know they have to power to "poop their pants" when they feel like doing so. Even though she loves her new school, she can still have anxiety and stress about it. A question for you...What is your reaction when she has and accident? If you get all charged up then she could be doing it for the attention. Make her clean herself up, take off the dirty pants, dump the poop in the potty and give her a wipe to clean herself up. That is how I got my daughter to stop. Ask her why she is doing it...my daughter did it because she forgot what it felt like and she decided she didn't like it so she has not had a poop accident since. Good luck to you!

She probably knows she has to go potty but you have to remember that mostly all a 4 yr.old is thinking about is playing sometimes they want to play and put it off until it's to late try to ask her several times a day around the same time if she needs to go potty and try asking her when shes really busy playing in due time she'll stop pooping in her pants if not maybe you should call her Dr.to see if there is a medical reason.

I know this may sound sad and cruel but it isn't...you have a lazy child... I had the same problem...It will break your heart to do this but it is the only way...it will be cured in two days....

after every time you find poop in the pants...Cold Shower.

They will want to go to the toilet after that. but when they do go on the potty...reward her....make it like every 5 times she poops, she gets a small toy or a treat.

My step-son was the same way at 4...three days...he was potty trained..no more pooping...

My oldest daughter...pooping her pants still at 3....two days and she went to the potty on her own...

My 4 year old Nephew....refused to go to the toilet...Four days and three cold showers...he was willingly going to the toilet.

BUT YOU MUST GIVE POSITIVE RE-ENFORCEMENT! Like I said, tell her her goal is when she gets to 5 times in the potty...and she can't have one "ACCIDENT" 5 times in a row, she gets a little treat or a toy or something.. and give her like a fake coupon or something so she can track her goal.

None of my children are abused or anything and they are well adjusted and love the water...Don't freak out or say anything..just put them in the cold shower and make sure it gets on them...not just hiutting around them when you put them in...It does and will break your heart but they will be okay...

this whole thing about being too excited to go to the bathroom is for the birds..that means it is no longer an accident...

If that was the case...would you find a guy who pee'd his pants at the club attrative because he just didn't want to leave the situation? No....

If she loves going to school, remind her that big kids in school HAVE to use the toilet. If she wants to go to school, she must be big, and ALWAYS use the potty. My son wet his pants right after school started, and it happened because he was having too much fun to be interrupted to go. He would hold it too long. The idea though of having to stay home instead of school...fixed this problem.

Depending on your child, you could use positive reinforcement, such as rewards or use punishment, such as taking away things she likes. every child goes through a relapse or has accidents. just make sure to not go back to diapers or pullups because that will show her that its ok. review what helped to potty train her from the start. also make sure its not her diet or any other medical reason.

Does she have diarrhea? Has her diet changed? Is the new school serving something that doesn't agree with her? I would find out what the school is serving. Also ask the school if they provide regular, scheduled bathroom breaks. If they don't this could be causing the problem because she might be holding it in.

I wouldn't worry to much. Talk to her. Tell her as soon as she thinks she has to poop to run to the bathroom. She could have a tiny bug or something. I wouldn't stress. Just talk to her and don't make a big deal out of it that could cause more problems.

She is probably just excited, forgets to go when she needs to. At that age, I think their "timing" is off, she may know she needs to go but thinks she has more time. It will straighten itself out.
